Hi all, can anyone help? don't want to go into the details but DH has a disciplinary hearing on 22 Feb on a possible charge of gross misconduct. He's not in a union but is eligible to join, and I wondered if he joined now, would it be soon enough for him to benefit from a union rep at the hearing?
If anyone can help, please post as soon as you can. Thanks.

AFAIK many unions only supply reps to people who have been members for a certain period of time, to prevent people joining for that purpose. Your DH will have to check with the union in question to see what their rules are. Even if it's not in time for the first hearing he should still join as they may be able to help with a future appeal hearing/tribunal case.

Do you have any other questions?

Thanks Flowery, think we'll have to try and find out. I have told him even if he can't get union rep to come, he needs to take somebody with him to take notes etc.
Shitting bricks here about what's going to happen and there's nothing I can do personally, which makes it worse.

Hi I work a lot with the unions and they are likely to supply a rep to attend the meeting if he is planning to join. He may find though that the union are not prepared to fund any claim that he may need to bring following the hearing as he would have needed to join prior to the issue arising. As flowery says though, it will depend on the union.

I agree that either way he needs to have someone with him.
