Cover letter help

Am applying for dream job, which involves a cover letter rather than CV. The job spec has 8 'skills' which they're looking for, and so far my cover letter deals with each of these in separate sentences or paragraphs (but not in the order they're set out in the job spec since the examples of my experience I'm using seem to fit better if I reorder the skills). My question is whether I should reference the job spec in my cover letter - I've put a sentence at the start saying that I'm 'now going to explain how I meet the criteria' (or words to that effect) but should I be more precise in the body of the letter (eg put something like '(Job specification (1))' at the end of each paragraph/sentence, or put in mini-headings)? Or do I just use similar wording and hope they link my skills with their requirements?

Thanks

I like your wordings (how I meet the criteria) and personally, I think as long as the cl flows nicely, you don't need to over-egg the pudding by adding brackets at the end etc.

Remember the person that reads your cl will have a few under his belt already so will know the criteria already, so the flow & style & ease of the letter is the most important IMO as this will untimately impress him/her & make the best impression.

HTH.

Just thought of something else - dh hates wanky font (comic sans & the like) in CV's/letters (his words not mine) and I'd add that printing it on really luxe thick paper & sending in a plush envelope is a great first impression too. Fingers crossed for you!
