help me word a follow up email

I had an interview yesterday which in my opinion, went well. I would like to send a follow up email along the lines of thank you, blah blah I look forward to hearing from you. Is this a good idea? How do I word it. I keep veering between sounding too confident to a complete a**e licker. Confused MN help required.

Personally, I wouldn't send anything until you have heard from them. If you send them an e-mail it will look like you are pushy and trying to get one over on the other candidates, so I think that will work against you.

I think it's fine to send - this happens to me quite often and it actually shows someone with good manners, and a positive attitude.

I'd write 'thank you for the time and opportunity to meet you to discuss xxx job yesterday, and I look forward to hearing from you with regard to the outcome'

Agree with hairylights. An email will make you stand out in their memory, and show you as polite & positive. Just 'forward' enough as long as you don't make it a begging letter.
Good luck!

Thanks all. Yes I think a follow up email woudl be OK as long as its worded correctly. I will send one in the morning if I havent heard from them after the morning post. I have been a SAHM for 3 years so had forgotten how awful the wait is.
