CHARGED £10 FOR FREE UNIFORM AFTER BEING FIRED

Basically was fired from my last job and when I left it was on bad terms. When I received my payslip through the post under where it says deductions they charged my £10 for the uniform which was free even though I gave it back to them. Can an employer do this?

You need to check the contract of employment. I think an employer has to gain consent before taking anything out of your pay (was advised this recently).

probably not much you can do about it. Unless you want to ring them up and argue the toss.

What would any of you do?

For a tenner? In those circumstances? I'd walk away rather than get into any kind of (further) dispute with them.

I'd seethe for about two minutes, then decide I wasn't going to give it any more of my time, as it's only a tenner.
