Back at work with SPD/PGP

I wasn't sure where to post this, but wondered if anyone else has had the same experience, or any advice on how to tackle this.

Nov 2009 and pg I was signed off due to severe SPD. I was then put on mat leave at 36 weeks Jan 2010.

I have been recuperating and trying to rest as much as I could during my mat leave, and as a result I had a longer mat leave. I have been back at work for 4 weeks already and I am suffering more pelvic pain than before I started back. I guessed I would be able to manage Confused I am only 3 days a week whilst using up AL and am due to return to 5 days from start of March. I am concerned that trying to do it all (at the moment) is too much for me, and may hinder what progress in recovery I have made. I am very scared that if I keep going I will actually have to get signed off, I'd rather be more in control if I can.

I've been seeing an NHS physio since the birth of my DS. I am about to seek further help with an osteopath/ Dr etc.

I wondered if anyone could advise on the right way to handle this with work. I don't want to be off sick, but I am not sure how they would let me work say 3 days a week until I feel able?

I would like to make some kind of mutual agreement that I could even work from home (I have childcare in place), but I am not sure how well this will be received. I asked to work from home during my pregnancy due to the SPD and was refused.

Any advice/perspectives really appreciated

They should do a risk assesment of your working conditions so request one and they may be able to get you a different chair or anything else that will help. Once the risk assessment is done you can discuss with your manager working from home.

Good luck.

The question your employer may ask is if your working from home how is this different to your presumably desk based office job?

HI thanks both for replying.
Princess do you think that I can ask for an assessment because it was a pregnancy related condition?
Grevling, I think that the extra driving and then walking from the car into work (there is a large ramp) might be to blame. I am considering asking if I may use a different entrance into the building which would avoid the ramp, and then see how that goes, It's difficult - I just somehow expected I'd manage OK, but I forget that I've been able to suit myself and rest (with help) around the house for these months....Yes, you are correct it is a desk based job. I am not sure, all I know is I seem to be be suffering more rather than keeping things on an even keel.
