Hi there,
I have a rubbish employer who has gone out of his way to not allow me to reduce my hours. I have two children and regularly work 40+ hours. Every day I walk past the " investor in people sign" I'd love to rip it of the wall! As in my job it's not worth the screws it's hung up with. Every time I see that sign I wonder if they are " female"'unfriendly employers too. I wish there was a sign that showed that employees where treated right, so that I could use those companies instead of others. I wish there was a trust a trader for good employers. Nb I did not ask for abnormal hours or longer breaks, I asked for a 4 day week normal hours which in my case includes some unsociable hours.

A frustrated tired vet.

I realise it's frustrating but there are often good business reasons why these requests are turned diwn. It's not your right to change your terms or hours, and frankly iip has nothing to do with it!

Has your employer set out why your request is being denied?

As you are sinfrustrated have you looked for another job?

I think it's quite odd to say they are female unfriendly just because they are not granting your particular request.

Is there more to it? It's a bit of a jump to go from refusing one flexible working request to being 'female unfriendly' and not treating you 'right'.

Is there something else? What reason/s were you given for the refusal?
