I work in the Public Sector as a specialist. I am well paid and pregnant. I am being made redundant as my post is being deleted. I am the only person in this situation in the area that I work in.
When I was given my risk of redundancy notice, I was told that all my work had to stop. However, I find that I am increasingly being asked to train up less experienced, less qualified and less well paid staff to do what has taken me years to become specialist at. This is proving to be much more than a simple hand-over of my work. I am asked for action plans, detailed typed instructional notes, in addition to 'training' meetings. Basically a step-by-step guide so that these staff can charge for what I have been doing for free (at the point of delivery). There aren't up front requests either - just meetings that require more and more detailed input as people realise that I won't be around to help/they didn't realise what they didn't know etc.
Is there a point at which it is reasonable to decide that enough is enough? It's really demoralising. Particularly as they need so much help to get the basics.
Do I have to do this because I am now on my period of notice? (It all stinks really as I don't think they want to pay my maternity leave, but I can't prove anything).
What do you think? Any advice welcome.
