What is the service?

Could the MN local or NM local sites be useful?

It really depends what the service is, as to what we suggest...

not sure if i'm allowed to say, but without giving away my business name, i'm a freelance personal shopper and stylist, i trained 7 years ago (took a career break, bf children), but have been freelancing for the past 4 years. new business is slow and exsiting business all sorted, and since dc's are easier to manage i can now take on new work.. but economic climate telling me otherwise! Sad i guess i could take on some volunteer work or admin work somewhere but i love what i do...

so i want to offer 1 hour free style consultations at peoples home as an introduction to my work, no obligation to take more services, but with this economic climate it would be good for both client as me as i have the time and i think some ladies out there would appreciate a stylist spending an hour styling what they already have, hence saving money but looking great! if i get addtional business great, if not then for me it's time well spent as i love my job!! Grin... am i mad??

i don't see much traffic on mn small business ads or local.. so any suggestions where i can advertise this offer/service at low cost would be much appreciated.

Our local council publishes a magazine. Library notice boards, local shops, park cafes, other local magazines (e.g. this one)... Those are the sources I comb when seeing what's on and what services there might be out there.

wow, thanks so much for the great ideas, never thought of the council or the families mag.... funnily enough i actually picked up the one for our borough today first time in months!!

when i first set up i did the notice boards of shops etc...absolutely no probs going back down that route! Grin

thanks again for taking the time to respond.

No problem. Smile That was interesting, about the "styling what [people] already have." I didn't realise stylists did that; I thought it was all "sourcing" new things for house interiors/wardrobes. If you also mend and alter clothes, it would be a very good thing to emphasise that, too.

cornonthecob · 21/01/2011 07:18

I only do clothes as in the contents of ones wardrobe! :) it's one element of what I do. I can help re style items of clothing, footwear and accessories they already have to make new looks and yes suggest alterations if need be! I can then advise any missing/new pieces and if requested take them on a personal shopping session!
