SMP - do you have to pay any of it back if you don't go back to work

I am worried that once I have had statatory leave I won't want to go back to work and what would happen about the SMP I have been paid.

If I did have to pay it back is there a time period I could return back to work so I wouldn't have to pay it back?

I'm also not sure about doing a combination of nusery/grandparents as childcare feeling that I would be missing out on a lot and maybe confusing the child.

HELP!!!

If it is SMP, then no. However some employers give enhanced maternity pay, and there are often conditions attached to this.

no

Another Nope here too! I didn't go back to same employer after my ds was born. I just left and applied for another job at the end of my Mat Leave period.

My kids routines are:

Monday - Nursery
Tuesday - Home with Daddy
Wednesday - Nursery
Thursday - Nursery
Friday - Granny's house

They both lurv going to Granny's house!

BTW ds is 4 and dd is 1.

that's right, not SMP but if you had any additional contractual pay you may need to pay that back. check your contract or maternity policy

Thank you everyone for all your help. It will help me come to a decision over the coming months.

Also a big thank you to Fangache for reassuring me that it is ok for grandparents to be part of the regular childcare arrangements.

I just now need to make the decision!
