I thinking about it.
I was wondering...
Who arranges the parties- do you have to advertise?
Do you do a cookery demo?
Stupid q but I take it the party is in someone elses house?!

Talk to me please! X

its really not worth it, getting people to do vthe parties is a pain and there are hidden costs!

ladyandthechocolate · 06/01/2011 22:26

You're probably right, i'm not the selling type either. I'd be too embarrassed to ask friends to host parties.
There is the hassle of being self employed etc etc.

I went to a Jme at Home party a little while ago. Most of the selling seemed to be done via a DVD that the rep played with Jamie on it doing recipies and raving about the chopping board etc. Stuff was expensive though and not all that exciting.

I didn't buy anything even after going through the catalogue about 5 times trying to find something small that I would use as it was SIL's party and I didn't want to look like a tight arse.

I believe she's become a rep now too but DH (her brother) has banned me from having a party after she asked if I would.

Hi lady,
You haven't said why you would be interested particularly in Jamie at Home. Do you have a strong interest in cookery or are you interested in earning some money?

If it's the latter, I can perhaps help as I sell Usborne Childrens Books into schools and to individuals. It's good fun and very sociable.

If it is the former then regretfully I cannot help at all being absolutely rubbish at cooking Sad! Although cupcakes seem to be very "in" at the moment.

I've been to an Usbourne Party too. Didn't buy anything as they're cheaper on Amazon. Sorry

I do Phoenix Trading and do most of my selling not through parties! I am most certainly not a salesperson, but it works for me as the products (cards and stationery) are things people need to keep buying and are mostly better prices than in the shops. My website is here if you're interested in finding out more: www.phoenix-trading.eu/web/sharonbrightman

hi blatherskite, some of the books definitely are, but is the coffee and chat as good?Grin It's also very slow to look through 2000+ books on Amazon. Hopefully I can help with advice on a particular book or topic in minutes.

I wouldn't do any business that is not exclusive. Jamie at Home is available to buy in Debenhams, Sainsburys etc and Usborne are always highly discounted on Amazon.

I joined Pampered Chef because their products are not available in shops. You go to someone's house and cook, inviting the guests to join in and you can also sell online, via people ordering and stall events. I would hope Jamie at Home is the same. I like PC as their products are very good quality for the money, although at first glance they can seem expensive when compared to something from, say IKEA.

Good luck!

I think it is over subscribed too and hate that you don't have client exclusively buying from you. There are lots of other companies out there if you have a particular interest. I sell Ladies and childrens clothes and love it but it is about finding what you love. good luck!

I have started selling Barefoot Books. It's free to join so, there is no stock to order or buy. I have created some cards and leave them where I go. Any sales can be done online and I make percentage. You can buy stock and sell at fetes, shows etc. But I will see how it all goes.

Hi, I started doing Jamie at Home in October 2010. Have had quite a few parties as coming up to Christmas very popular. At moment it is bit slow as have exhausted list of family and friends and need to expand my customer base. Has been great fun so far and do have lots of lovely products for my own home. No sales targets as such but are few hidden extras such as recipe cards and party gadgets which I find everyone wants rather than just as fun quiz prize as suggested during training.

If you are based near Belfast would be happy to meet up and chat more!
