I started my new part time job just 2 months ago and recently found out i am pregnant. According to my sums I will qualify for all the maternity allowances by just one week (ie, i would have been working there for 26 weeks by my 15th week prior to EDD)

BUT - i am really not settling into this job (it is within a very emotive and sensitive environment) and ever since i found out i was pregnant i've just lost all interest. It isnt just a part time job, it involves all sorts of training outside my normal days etc.

Basically, would i be stupid if i left this job and found another part time one? I KNOW THE ANSWER IS YES BUT JUST THOUGHT I'd TRY!!!!

Mandymoo - I stuck out my last job until Mat Leave at 34.5wks. Then only returned to earn some cash whilst I looked for another job (which I started last month and lurrv!).

I hated working there.... as you may have noticed by some of the threads about working with my Dad! But it was a means to an end. Its not that long in the grand scale of things.... BUT if you are going to look for another job you really should do it whilst you are not obviously pregnant.

Also, think about ways of doing your job to ease the stress. When you announce you are pregnant, you will have the perfect excuse for dipping out of an extras. Just say you are too tired or ill or you have a scan/midwife's appointment that day. Naughty I know, but I hate training/teambuilding crap.

My job is already relatively stress free - its just learning everything and trying to fit in. I'm an admin assistant. I just havent connected with the job and really not enjoying it. I know in the grand scheme of things its not that big but at the moment its stressing me out!

When I got pregnant, i started a job I hated and forced myself to stick it out for 26 weeks so I'd get maternity allowance. It really did fly by and I'm glad I got the extra money as it made things a lot easier when dd arrived.
