Christmas Bonus's?

OK I have staff who have been with me for years, some for 3/4 months & by Christmas some that have been with me for 4-6 weeks

How on earth do I structure Christmas bonuses (bonusi??? Bonus' I really can't spell)

How are the bonuses worked out? Usually its done on the last months performance.

Best idea is to work out how much you're willing to pay overall and then assign a percentage value to each person.

Those who are there a full year get say a full share and those that have been there less than a year get a % of the full share depending on how long they've been there.

If they've been there for 4-6 weeks then I'd expect they won't be expecting something.

However the best bonus schemes I've seen are things that get people tangible stuff such as a turkey or a nice bottle of wine.

I normally give a voucher - it's not really a bonus; more a 'present'

I'm crap at this stuff

How much are you thinking of giving your more long-standing staff?

I wouldn't make it over-complicated. You could give the same amount to all your long-standing staff, then perhaps half of that, or less, depending on how much you're giving, to those you mention who have been there less than 4 months.

I guess I thought about £50 for my FT who has been with me a year

But how do I do PT?

& the shorter people (well they aren't less tall; just been with me less time)

Pro rata the part timers.

People with less service, you could give them £20 perhaps? It's really up to you!
