Two jobs, so what happens to SMP?

I have two jobs, one is the standard full-time, the other is a half day on the weekends in an unconnected field. Both employers are aware of each other and are happy for me to do both.

I'm now pg with DC1 and he/she is due in April 2011. I'm planning to go on ML from both jobs at the beginning of March.

I'm not planning to go back to my full-time job until January 2012 at the very earliest but am thinking about returning to the weekend half-day job in September 2011.

I don't think the second employer is paying me SMP as, although they do my tax etc, I don't think I'm an employee as such. The first, full-time employer is paying me maternity pay and then SMP.

Does my SMP from my first employer have to stop if and when I return to the second employer in September?

You'll only get SMP from your main employer as I'm sure you won't qualify for SMP from both as your part time employer is unlikely to pay you enough for you to reach the threashold.

If you work for your second employer just classify them as KIT days.

You can do upto 10 days (so 20 half days maybe) without interupting your SMP from your main employer.

Though that shouldn't be a problem as by then you'll be unpaid as SMP is only for 39 weeks then unpaid leave.

Good point! I'd forgotten about the KIT days!
