Anyone else have a mid week day off?

I am due to return to work in January and have requested to go back 4 days a week. My boos has said the only day off they give me is weds.

I am just wondering how well it works having a mid week day off and do you just spend the day not being able to cut off from work?

I used to work 4 days with a Wednesday off & I loved it. After I had DD2 and DD1 was at school it made better sense to work 5 shorter days but I still hanker for my Wednesdays almost 3 years on.

It depends on how you are normally I never had much of a problem switching off if I wanted to. When DD1 went to nursery I sometimes went in on a Wednesday to make up time or if there was a particular meeting, project or whatever I wanted to see through. I was really fortunate that it was never expected of me and always to suit myself. That aspect depends on your employer.

I know of a few other people who did the same and they all liked it.

When I worked odd shifts I used to love having the day off when everyone else was at work.
It's great for getting shopping done or any other stuff you mean to do.

My colleague has a 2 year old and works 4 days with wednedsay off. she loves it. says it breaks the week up nicely for her and her DD.

I only work 3 days but have Mondays and Thursdays off. I love having a day off mid week and deliberately chose it. It breaks the week up and I never wake up thinking I have loads of work ahead of me, as I only ever have max 2 days at work before I'm off again.

Really pleased at all the positive comments and has made me feel loads better about this as was worried i should not have agreed to it and pushed for a mon or fri off.

I agree that also will be better for DS as he does not have to do 4 days in a row at nursery and breaks up the week for him as well.

Many thanks all.

Yep, I'd say it's a positive thing as well. When you work part time it's nice to be able to split up the week like that, so you're only ever in work 2 days at a time :)
