would you wait to see if you're going to get the push (redundancy)

or would you apply for other jobs in the meantime and risk losing redundancy?

I am in this position right now. I am going to wait as I may get redeployed to another department if I don't I will have the money.

Not sure what I would do if I saw an ideal job though.

Are you in a public sector role? It is always so much easier to find another role when you are already in employment. If your ideal role comes up in these current times you would have to think very seriously.

My job allows me to work from home the majority of the time (but it doesnt allow me to save on childcare, go shopping, have coffee with friends etc!). It does allow me to let workmen in and not have to take a day off when there is a delivery. I work for a very large company and wouldnt get a role like this again in a million years...

I have heard that the redudancy packages in government providing you are over 50 are very attractive (payment of your pension immediately and as though you were 60 plus lump sum redundancy payments.)

That is exactly what I am waiting for. Hate my job as I dont have enough work to do and i honestly thrive on being busy (and being valued, dear employer!)

Bet there are lots of us out there!

yes public sector. it's really hard I just wish they would tell us sooner rather than later.

I am public sector to. But hey we should know by December.

Merry fecking christmas.

depends how many months pay your redundancy is - and weigh that up against likely length of time to get a suitable replacement job once there have been rounds of redundancies.
