Hi, been sahm for a long while, am single mum (children have no contact with their father). I would like to look for part time work when oldest is settled in secondary school, so in about a years time!

I was in admin/secretarial work prior to kids. Trained as a comp therapist, however advised to not do this by consultant. Have done some voluntary work, bit of pta etc, not sure if anyone on pta knows me anymore as was when kids were much younger!

Was wondering if anyone has any idea's of training or anything else I could do to suit the needs I have, school hours, term dates... DON'T WANT TO WORK IN A SCHOOL! and is not too physically strenious!

i think if you're willing to train you could do some kind of touch typing course or something? that would improve chances
then I think you can get work via agencies so just doing the hours you're willing to do?

am sure someone will tell me if i am wrong though lol as not done office work since i was at college

Re school hours/term dates, larger employers may have more flexibility. Eg friend I know works for Scottish Power (I think!) and they have deal whereby once kids are at school, you can work term times only by taking unpaid leave but your pay is averaged throughout the year. Not sure how you'd identify such employers though... I also think public bodies eg police, council, used to give better deal re people with disabilities. Is there a local disabilities organisation who you could contact for more info/advice?

numpty mum will try your link, do the big organisations take you on full time and allow you to change your hours as you need to or take you on with flexitime?
