Going back to work after 3 years out. New job, very similar to what I was doing before. Project work for bank in the City.

DS is going to nursery fulltime, very happy with that, we did a trial run last week and he is really happy there, tbh I think he really needs the structure and routine.

Very much looking forward to going back, again tbh, I really need the structure!! I was getting a little bit bored and brain dead at home. I adore being a mum, but not a housewife!

So can I have your best tips for going back?
Any tips on getting to work on time, getting ready, dressed, makeup? getting DS out of the house, organising the household and the housework.

And also, what do you have in your wardrobe as basic work "uniform"?
I am typically bit of a casual dresser, so need to smarten up, I have a few suits, don't like blouses as am overweight, so thinking suits with smart tops.
boots/shoes?
thanks

Tips for getting to work on time etc - the main one I have found is to get EVERYTHING ready the night before - bags packed and in the hall, clothes laid out, lunches made etc. If I try to do anything in the morning we just end up running late!

Re. housework, I'd recommend breaking it down and doing a bit each evening to keep on top of it, you know, Tuesday night is hoovering downstairs night, Wednesday night upstairs or whatever. And get your other half to help!

Good luck :)

Ooh, learnt that one from dh, every single morning he forgets something or can't find something, and he us only getting himself ready!
What do you do about the washing don't want to do it all at the weekend. Just hang it out in the morning I guess.
Only have to leave at 715/730. I used to actually be in work by then so should be able to manage it. Just nervous I guess!

I'd put the washing on when I get in and hang up once the DCs are sorted and in bed so it dries overnight. Otherwise you will be risking running late as its a distraction. Other tips; Online grocery shopping, cleaner, buying presents for DCs friends in bulk and storing ready for parties at short notice. Good luck.

I set my machine to come on so its finished when I get up. Only problem is I find that I have to powder when doing this but actually prefer liquid.

Slow cooker - its not lazy to buy pre cut veg, frozen onions and packets to use in it especially if its the only way you can get a meal on the table quickly!

Bags packed and in car or by front door EVERY night! If you use nappies leave a weeks supply at nursery - one less thing to remember.

My DS also has breakfast at nursery.

Agree about buying cards and presents in advance- most of my xmas presents have been wrapped already.

Can't help with the clothes situation as Im now a Uni student (leave at 730 return at 530 3 days a week so can empathise with your plight). In my previous job clothes werent an issue we had all sorts in our office!
Good luck!
