Flexible working application form - help

Hi

I'm currently on maternity leave, due to return November and I have put in a flexible working request to change my hours from F/T 5day to P/T 3 days. I've got a meeting next week with my line manager and HR manager but in the meantime have to complete their flexible working application form to be returned before meeting. Problem is I'm struggling on how to word the questions re how it will effect the business etc, the reasons being as follows:

I am currently employed as Accounts Administrator/Payroll. At the time of taking the job I was not made aware that the job was probably 80% payroll and as time went on I found myself disliking this part of my job as I'm more from an accounting background.

A couple of months before leaving to go on maternity I got a new line manager and took this opportunity to discuss my feelings. As it turned out one of my colleagues was not enjoying her role as credit control and had always wanted to do payroll. So the arrangement was for her to cover my job whilst on maternity, credit control was distributed within department and they employed a full time temp to cover the accounts admin. During that meeting, my manager informally said on my return it could be worked that my colleague keep the payroll role and maybe they could utilise my accounts admin skills.

I'm also aware that the business and my department has been and still is expanding throughout my absence, so wouldn't be surprised if they keep on the temp.

So how do I put a case together when I don't know what I will be doing and how this will effect the business? Its a hard one??

Ask them what they see you doing. You can't answer the question if they don't give you an idea of what job your facing.

Don't make something up and hope that its right.

Thanks for your reply seeyoukay, you're right. I did speak to my line manager the other day how to approach the question. Her reply was to put down the basics on the basis of my current role and said it would be discussed what could be done/will be doing in the meeting. This still didn't really help as I feel I would be putting a case forward for a role I no longer want to do. The top and bottom of it is, I'm hoping my colleague is still interested in continuing the payroll so I can focus on the accounts admin side as I really can't face going back to it. But at the same time I do realise that the company have to offer my same job on return.
