Been asked to set up some websites - what do I charge for it?

I set up a website for a friend's dance school as a freebie because I wanted to see if I could make a living out of this type of work. I am also doing some other online marketing for her. I only did it this weekend and already have interest from 2 companies by word of mouth to do it for them.

I have some background in online marketing, communications and a business degree so I am not a complete novice. But never worked freelance before.

How do I get started deciding what to charge?

Start with how many hours in took you from start to finish, then work out a reasonable hourly rate, more than minimum wage but less than piss take.

You could start on the low side to develop more business, get a good portfolio of websites together, the start pricing higher.

Some people may want a fixed price and you could offer say five pages for £x pounds and start from there.

Good on you, great way to get started.

Thanks carocaro - I totally forgot I made this post.

I have set up a webpage selling my services and linked to it from the website I built for the dance school - that way she wont have to keep fiedling questions about who did the work.

Feeling surprisingly optimistic - really dont want to have to go back to proper work.
