Should I give up looking for work and continue to volunteer

Hi

I have been looking for work for a while with no success. I don't have as much experience as employers would like but obviously the only way to get it is to get a job :-(. I had been volunteering but can't really continue this as I would have to pay foe childcare which I would get help paying if employed. Feel really depressed about it. x

What sort of work are you looking for?

Can you do anything through a temp agency so that you have some experience?

Looking for a ta position in school. Really need permanent position so I can sort out childcare. I think I am realistically gonna have to wait till dd2 is at school which is 2 years away :-(. Thanks for the reply I was feeling a bit low yesterday as I had just got rejected.

Sorry to hear about the rejection

Can you do any voluntary work involving children to help your CV along when you do apply for jobs?

Things such as evening or weekend help with a youth group, swimming teacher etc all look good on a CV.

How about doing a job from home around the children? I do Usborne, I started off in may taking them to events and parties and doing admin when they were in bed, and now I earn enough to be able to claim for childcare as part of tax credits, so I get some time to sit down and "properly" work.

We do a lot of work with schools so it could be a really good way of making contacts, and of course the experience is brilliant. A lot of the organisers are also tas or teachers, or have given up teaching to do Usborne as it pays better.

I had been out of work for ages, and now I have "Team Leader" to put on my cv :)

Anyway, have a look at www.bookwormery.co.uk for some more info, and contact me with any questions.
