Hi

I've recently had a bit of a career change and moved into HR. I wondered if anyone working in HR could recommend any good websites that they use day to day. Really appreciate any advice.

People Management, news updates everyday. I follow them on Twitter which means I get news coming through regularly.

CIPD has good factsheets and employment law section.

Directgov for basic English employment stuff which I mainly use to point people to

DWP

ACAS for guidance booklets esp on redundancy and discipline/grievance

working families for flexible working stuff

Equality Human Rights, not the easiest to navigate though.

What kind of HR are you mostly going to be doing? I mean what sort of stuff do you think you will be looking up?

Thank you! That's really helpful. I'm working for a local authority so will be doing quite a bit of organisational change in next few months, disciplinary and grievance, investigations, capability, sickness etc plus general advice

I use all those suggested by Flowerybeanbag and also expertHR. Perhaps you could ask your employer to pay for your membership- mine does. It's so useful, has lots of legal info and standard letters that I can adapt for any ER issues.

Thanks mrclaypole, I've been on xperthr a few times but always seem to have to be a subscriber to read the things I want. I'll check if we have a subscription but not sure if we will as not much money floating about at mo!

I also use

www.personneltoday.com/home/default.aspx

The mailing list at www.danielbarnett.co.uk/ is good too. A bit more geared to lawyers but still useful for HR professionals.
