My children are now 10 and 12. I am a single parent and am keen to remind myself of what money looks like. I am open to suggestions for working from home part time. I have tried selling items on E Bay but not to any great success but would be willing to do something like that again. Packing things at home, even stuffing envelopes. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. :-)

Have you considered doing direct selling? I'm an Usborne Books Organiser and it's an excellent way to work from home - it fits around whatever childcare commitments you have, you get the money straight away when you sell the books and you can work as much or as little as you want.

If you're interested have a look at my website or drop me an email to [email protected]

Tillington do you have personal experience of DCN?

Tillington · 08/09/2010 17:40

Yes I do - I am the MD of the DCN! I have worked with a2om (who make the products) for the past 5 years. They sell well, school response is excellent and the AA driving school are now nationwide partners to deliver the the Drive IQ Pro course in the car.

I am also very interested here. I have recently applied to some market research companies . I have previously done this , it is hard work and you have to develop a fairly thick skin, but it is quite well paid, and great for flexibility.
The body Shop are recruiting party plan consultants too nationwide with 25% commission if that interests you too. I can't use Avon or Virgin Vie skincare as I am sensitive but maybe they are worth considering too ?

Hi,
I work part-time from home helping people to save money.I work as a distributor for a British FTSE 250 Company. It's great especially at the moment as most people don't want to spend money on party plan( I have tried party plan but didn't like the sell sell sell aspect). I love to see the expressions on peoples faces when they realise just how much they can save.

If this is of interest, please have a look at my website here or e-mail me. I will be more than happy to tell you about it.

I work as a Phoenix trader - it's direct selling of stationery and greetings cards. It's great as there's no pressure - no targets or minimum orders and so on and because the products are cheap and everyone uses them there is alot of repeat business. My website is here if you'd like to find out more.

What kind of things do you like doing? If your going to work from home research companies well you don't want to pay out too much to join. The company I work for I researched well before I joined and couldn't find a negative thing about them, I work self employed for them
training is done from my P.C so I don't have to leave the kids I choose my own hours and the work is interesting. Have a look at the website www.ecoshopkent.co.uk or email me to send you an information pack.

Tillington - just for information - if yours is a commercial operation, (a) it is best not to use .org.uk (which implies a "not for profit") and (b) you are breaking the rules of Nominet by 'hiding' your address details on the WHOIS facility.

If running a business, there are certain expectations many have, such as giving a phone number, and postal address information on any 'contact us' or 'about us' web page. It certainly looks more respectable if selling a service or product to do so, as the money doesn't disappear with no trace of where (and to whom) it is going.

Also, while I doubt you would do such a thing, the name entered on a domain registration could be false.

Of course, if a limited company tries to register (and selects 'limited company' as the type of registration) then there are stronger obligations under the Companies Act 2006 about providing information on a website and in e-mail or other correspondence, and anu limited company is expected to fill in the company number when registering the domain (just for information for anyone who is planning to buy goods or services, and off at a slight tangent from this thread, sorry... finally, to check on registrations, for .uk domains it is perhaps easiest to visit www.keepyour.co.uk and for checking company registrations, see www.companies-house.gov.uk)
