What would be your dream job?

As mentioned on a previous thread, I would love a career change after 15 years in Science. The problem is, I just can't decide what to change to. I have considered lots of options but am never sure enough to commit to any of them. I also work part time at the moment and would be reluctant to give that arrangement up when the children are little. If I could decide on a plan, I could at least be working towards something/studying for something in the meantime Confused

Please come and inspire me with what your dream job would be, whether it's the job you have currently or not (I hope it is!) Also, how did you decide what was the right career path for you?

TIA

Anything that could make money out of a passion or talent. I have no talent. Would want flexibility and to not have to work in an office. I suppose you need to think about what you really can't bear and work on that. And how much do you need to earn? Can you study train/study for a few years if the result was a well-enough paying job that you'd love?

Said Unfortunatrly I couldn't give up work to study full time. Would need to earn and study part time or open learning. This would I guess rule out some options.

What do you enjoy? What do you hate about current job? I think this is a horribly common dilemma. I know someone who recently completely changed career (did a 3 year degreee full-time to do so) and is now not sure she likes the new job. So, I think only a very lucky few have "dream job". Just try for something you're interested in but has few of the things you can't stand? Not much help as feel in the same boat.

Hi Magbags
I've got a list of questions that may help narrow down your search for the perfect job, or at least get you looking in the right direction!
1What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
2What conversations do you have with people that interest you?
3What is something you are interested in knowing more about?
4What do you know more about than anyone else?
5Which problems have you sloved for other people before
6What books do you have on your bookshelf?

I recently read about a student who knew everything about celebrities and celebrity gossip, it was her passion. She approached a magazine and got a job writing about just that.
The key is to find something you enjoy.
Good luck,
emily
