but there are so many different options!! I don't know who to trust. Many offer free services but don't want to go with them then if it grows get stuck with that same provider when they can't meet my needs in the future Hmm any tips?

How about a do-it-yourself package?
There are a few around where you build it yourself using given templates. These are very good if you are on a budget, just starting out or testing an idea.
I have used the Mr. Site package and have it linked to PayPal for my shopping basket. It has worked well for me and I like the fact that I have full control over any changes and can do them anytime I want with incurring extra costs.
I'm sure others can point you in the direction of other packages available.

thank you- just been on the site and it looks great actually. Is it easy to link to paypal and have a shopping facility? Is it possible to have advertising around your site?

Yes to all 3 questions. Once you join you get step by step instructions how to do everything. If I can do it ( an IT numpty) then anyone can!!
I bought the basic package rather than the Pro and it has been fine.
