Equity (or just how unfair can they be?)

Can someone who knows employment law explain what it would mean for changes proposed by the employer to be in-equitable in terms of either the existing job or colleagues' work.

Has anyone experienced this or used this legal argument in erm discussions or negotiations with their employer?

I'm afraid I don't really know what you mean by changes being inequitable as against colleagues work. could you give some more details? Are you talking about pay, or working practices? What type of changes and why?

Being asked to change duties and do 25-30% more work for the same pay, to accommodate changes the organisation wants to make. I would also be changing site for 50% of my working week.

I work in a very tightly regulated profession and there are a lot of safety issues to do with risks attendant on workload. All our jobs are carefully monitored and job planned as to work load and activity. My current job is barely manageable within current guidelines - and the plan to deal with this appears to be to redeploy me so I am even busier.

I would be interested in getting advice from an employment lawyer - any advice on how to go about this? - to back up the advice I can get from professional bodies. I would prefer not to be litigious and confrontational but I would like to know where I stand legally, as a guide for negotiations. The argument about inequitable changes is from one of these discussions. One thing I need to clarify is whether it is cf my current conditions or cf my colleagues jobs not changing. (I think if the organisation fet forced to make cuts and we were all equally affected we would have to go with it if you see what I mean)
