Is there anywhere that doesn't charge a stupid amount of money? Everywhere I've looked seems to want to charge the earth.

I'm sorry I haven't got a clue but didn't want your post to go unanswered. This will bump it for you, hopefully someone useful will come along in a minute...

I didn't know you could.
accountacny agencies, like hays, and reed comemnt on my cv.
Dh had his professionally written. But the 3 he checked out before choosing, all create a totally different cv.
what makes you think yours isn't ?
if you weren't getting interviews then you would question the agency to see if they thought your cv could be bettered ?

what kind of service are you looking for exactly ?

It's just I've not put a CV together for more than 6 years and just wondered if it should be formatted differently / include any information that I haven't got on it (obviously have qualifications, experience, job history).

I've just started looking and have sent my CV to a few agencies.

What do you think is too expensive? I could help you with this.

I have found this guide very useful

CV guide.

This is very much if you want a job similar to your previuos / current career though, IYSWIM.

I went on a careers course when I was made redundant last year and they also showed us how to apply for the sort of job where you are taking a change of direction and maybe starting again at a lower level, this might be more suitable in your situation. You do the header and summary, then a list of all your overall acheievements, skills and experiences on the first page, which can also include things like helping in school etc if that's what you've been doing. You then put your previous jobs and qualifications on the 2nd page, because they are probably less relevant in that situation. Hope this helps.
