Trans women are women but

So I believe everyone has the right to identify as they choose. If someone feels they are more female than their genitalia suggests or vice versa or if someone doesn't identify as a specific gender gender then I feel we live in a modern society which can be inclusive of everyone.

But

Given the number women who are murdered/raped/attacked by men. We (women) have the right to be safe and I would say that trumps the right to identify. So yes there should be womens spaces, and yes women should have their own category in sport. So what does that mean? Womens spaces, gender neutral spaces and mens spaces seems the most logical solution as it would also work for people who are gender neutral, none binary and pan gender. Surely that's the thing to be fighting for?

I go with JKR"s views of dress however you want etc.

And yes, third spaces are the way to go for - that seems perfectly reasonable to me. Some TW will feel more comfortable, as would some TM and maybe even some men/women with no identity will use it. Big win for everyone, hooray. But that's not going to happen because the TRA movement is essentially a misogynistic movement and they won't be happy until they access the women only spaces.

But say third spaces did happen. What about sport? Prisons? Should there be third categories for sports or prisons? And do you think the TRA type TW want those categories or do you think they will reject them?

Terfy thoughts.

I'm biologically 46 but have decided I want to be 6. This is my absolute right because I feel like I am 6. I will dress as a 6 year old, and demand to be given access unhindered to all spaces that are exclusively for the use of 6 year olds. I also want to compete against 6 year olds at sport. Don't you dare suggest this could be unfair, make 6 year olds feel unsafe or that I could present a danger to them, because I am the only one that that matters.

But transitioned males are not 'women'. They are males who are living a version of what they perceive as being a 'woman'.

This 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I’m happy to get behind 3rd space toilets and additional sports categories - New York City marathon had a non binary category - and I think that is positive.

Artygirlghost · 12/11/2022 07:25

I changed my mind recently about all this because I got fed with the demands and aggression of activists and the automatic silencing of some women's voices.

So for me: trans women are men who want to change their appearance as much as they possibly can to live and look in a way that they perceive to be feminine. I have no objection to them doing that and I don't want them to be discriminated against in life because of their choice.

BUT I also believe they are not women and never will be. To be a woman you have to be born a woman. They also can't just demand access to female spaces either. Instead we should work on making they have safe spaces of their own to use (gender neutral toilets or changing rooms). I also believe that no child or teen should go through gender reassignment. This should be a decision that can only be made by a grown adult who has had time to make a mature decision about it.

I really believe in tolerance and acceptance but not in censoring debate or being asked to dismiss basic biology.

Except all the male non binary people keep beating the female non binary people.

I believe a female non binary person has demanded they split the category into AFAB non binary and AMAB non binary, to make it 'fair'.

So do I have the right to identify as being black by putting on some make up and act as though I’ve been ‘feeling’ black all my life and know how it feels being black etc. Yeah but no but. Trans women are not women. Let’s leave it at that.

Trans women are not women or "females".

Biologically there are only two genders female and male. That's a fact.

I am all for being mindful and inclusive of everyone and allowing people to be happy in their own bodies but it irritates me that we now have gender neutral toilets and the changing of the term "breastfeeding" to "chest feeding". Only females/women can conceive and carry children and subsequently breastfeed them. I would find it highly offensive as a mother to have to use the term chest feeding to make other people feel better about themselves or "included"

Where do we draw the line?!

Yes. It has been suggested that the non-binary category be split into sex based non-binary categories.

It could mean that the message is getting through….

Yes but it's bloody ridiculous.

I'm non binary so I can't raise with other females because I don't feel like one.

But I can't race with males either who don't feel like males because, well they are males and I would never win.

Surely the answer to that is 2 categories- male and female? Which covers everyone. If a TW will never win because they have taken drugs well tough shit - its the choice you made. Its the competing that is important. And if TM are excluded from women's competition because if tbe drugs the take - well tough shit, it's your choice. Stop the drugs and you can take part again.

You do you! And the good news is that if you decide you want to buy alcohol, or a lottery ticket, or go to an 18 film , or it’s Funtime Friday, you can just be your other you for as long as it takes and the meanies won’t be able to do a thing about it. Yay! Best of all possible worlds.

I have actually stopped using the word "gender".
It's bollocks made up shite.

There are two sexes.

Sex is real, gender is man made bullshit of the highest order.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 11/11/2022 13:53

the problem is, for TW it’s the women in the spaces that make the spaces worth being in

if it was genuinely about safety & not violating women’s boundaries third spaces would be the answer & stonewall would have campaigned for them

but it isn’t so they don’t

100% this.

This. I struggle to say ‘gender’ without sounding disgusted. It’s sexist bollocks IMO.
