Gender critical age ranges

Just curious what the general age range here. I'm 31 and I'm gender critical. But there seems to be a belief that all gender critical people are much older such as 50's and later. I know that's not necessarily true, there's nothing wrong with being an experienced person after all! But I am feeling curious. Probably doesn't help that I haven't met any in person.

No need to give exact age of you are not comfortable. You can just say late 20's or early 40's if you would like.

So what is the general age range here or of curiosity?

Over 60, and very aware that life is too short to listen to bullshit or to try to appease misogynists.

PuttingDownRoots · 15/01/2023 18:32

Mid thirties.
Believe everyone should be able to express themselves how they like (clothes, hobbies, name, even pronouns really) but biological sex is real and is important in many situations such as sport, safety and dignity.

DameMaud · 15/01/2023 18:33

Early 50's but like pp said, would have felt the same at 30

PotteringPondering · 15/01/2023 18:33

Late 50s

BringerOfDoom · 15/01/2023 18:34

Thank you for sharing. I think we have quite a healthy age range here! I think the stereotype may have started because more experienced people could smell the bullshit a mile away because they've been through enough nonsense to know what it is when they see it. Where as younger folks are more likely to give others the benefit of the doubt and try to people please. 😂

Early 40s. Same for DH. Same for my early 70s DPs, and our tween DCs.

amylou8 · 15/01/2023 18:39

I'm in my mid 40s. I've known since I can remember that I am female because I have a female body, periods and gave birth three times. I also spent a few years doing a biology degree and learnt all about genetics. I know that I have 40 trillion(ish) cells each containing an X chromosome. The genes on this chromosome produce proteins which make me female at a fundamental level. I know that it is impossible to change this, and that whatever I wear, whatever drugs I take and whatever surgery I have, at a biological level I am and always will be female. While I am fully accepting of people being whatever they want to be (with the caveat it doesn't put other people at risk), the notion that you can actually change your biology sex is absurd.

That's fantastic! Bravo to you and your lovely family. You're clearly bringing your grandchildren up right! Do you mind telling us about your gender critical support group?

Mid 40s. I’d have been even angrier about this shite if I were younger, time has mellowed me (a bit) 🤨

BeanieSue · 15/01/2023 18:44

Almost 50. My friends of a similar age mostly Terfy. Eldest teenage daughter the opposite.

Interesting point, Pizza. Time has mellowed me in general, I find. But on woman-erasing male-supremacist shite, I’m angrier than I’ve ever been.

Casilero · 15/01/2023 18:47

Late 40s

Also have a daughter of 15 who is GC and a daughter of 21 who is definitely NOT GC. We don't discuss it really as we just argue.

Babdoc · 15/01/2023 18:53

I’m 67, an old 1970s radfem and retired doctor.
My 33 year old DD is also a fully paid up terf - she runs the Gender Critical Autistics group on FB. I am also autistic, and would never have fallen for the TWAW gaslighting even when young, as I was very into science and logic as a teen.

LaughingPriest · 15/01/2023 19:03

Late 30s. Am open-minded to things that at a bare minimum are logically consistent.

I wouldn't say I fell for t
TWAW but I saw it as is own ideology kind of thing and thought if that's how they want to live their lives no one should be unkind to them as it's their choice. Although at the time it was mostly adults that were trans and I didn't know anything about children medically transitioning of it was happening at all when I was a teen.

I thought people were just being mean because they didn't like that they think differently. There was also the mistake I made thinking there were very few of them.

However it grew became a trend then the nonbinary stuff started and I thought that was really questionable and then blew out of proportion and then they started trying to claim they were literally women and I was just 🤯😱🤦🏻‍♀️

So yeah now here we are! 🤷🏻‍♀️

52 . Have older teen and early twenties children who are very gender critical and of the firmly left wing persuasion.

Scooopsahoy · 15/01/2023 19:19

Early forties. My impression from my workplace - if stating pronouns on email signatures is any guide! - is that those forty plus are gender critical, those under forty are not. But with some exceptions both ways.

Clariana · 15/01/2023 19:21

I'm mid 50s, but I know GC people from 16 to 92!

Iizzyb · 15/01/2023 19:26

Fairislefandango · 15/01/2023 18:30

I'm 51. I wouldn't have believed men could become women at any age.

Exactly this

MattDamon · 15/01/2023 19:29

I'm 30s. I know several twenty-somethings who think it's bullshit but don't want the harassment from speaking out about it.

2000lightyearsaway123 · 15/01/2023 19:30

28 and gender critical

Oh yes I feel that. I want to say something all the time but I'm not in a time or place in my life where I am empowered to speak offline about it sadly so mumsnet is my only outlet at the moment for these feelings. 🥲

I barely know anyone who isn't GC tbh. All ages, backgrounds, both sexes, professionals, levels of education....

The ones who are TWAW are of a much narrower bracket and v much fit a 'type' or 2 - green/blue coloured hair, virtue-signalling younger person or middle aged beardy woke bro who at heart is sure they're right because they're a man. I've had the occasional colleague give off "be kind" vibes in a way that shows they've barely considered the issues, a couple who've used words like c*s but apologised when I've rejected it and explained it's offensive.

My wider family are in almost unanimous GC agreement from teen cousins to great grandma. The occasional male raises an eyebrow and judges but they're v much in the minority.

For all the noise on Twitter, no one ACTUALLY thinks TWAW whatever age they are.

Francesgumm · 15/01/2023 19:32

Mid 50’s
