Vapid, bourgeois feminism - A virtue-signalling exercise dressed up as a working-class feminist rally had little to say about the men who harm women

... another rally ... was organised by women’s organisations that had united to protest rising rates of sexual violence. Before you get too heartened, I regret to inform you that this quite promising-sounding “feminist” rally was yet another masterclass in the virtue-signalling cognitive dissonance that has come to define mainstream progressivism. Speakers paid lip service to the grave issue of male violence against women (reports of rape and attempted rape have increased by almost a third in the last four years in Scotland), but it was a supporting theme to the rally’s real agenda: denouncing the so-called far right and its alleged “weaponisation” of the issue against migrants.

The groups involved included Sisters Uncut, the Scottish Trades Union Congress, Women Against the Far Right and NASUWT Scotland (the teachers’ union). Of course, all these organisations are resolutely trans-inclusive, i.e. they can’t define what a woman is. Always a great start for an alleged women’s rights protest. Indeed, Scottish Green MSP Iris Duane, a trans-identified male, was one of the speakers to take the mic. It’s quite difficult to pinpoint lowlights in a speech with no highlights, but a particularly telling moment came when he said: “[Extremists are] telling us to blame migrants, the refugees, the trans people – anyone who looks different – and blame anything but the structures that have permitted this.”*

Ah yes, structures. Structures are to blame for killing and raping us. If I found myself walking alone in Gorgie late at night, I’d be looking over my shoulder to check whether structures were following me. I’d cross the street to avoid walking past a group of structures. The political left has a strange relationship with describing men. Men they call “cis” and, by extension, traditional masculinity are often mocked and demonised as the cause of all society’s problems. Yet when it comes to the uncomfortable nitty-gritty of identifying and actually solving problems, particularly those relating to MVAGW, under no circumstances can groups of males be spoken about in specific terms.

Our real enemy are the men we are conditioned to live alongside day to day, like our father's, our husbands and our brothers.

Our father's what?

I'm just waiting for one of our resident TRAs to thank Debbie for their kind allyship, not realising that Debbie is satirising them.

Structures as in layouts/design of public areas should get looked at - but clearly not what is meant.

Nearby city the major bus stops are good way down a poorly lit side street with empty and some even derelict building with side allies. If they put them at end of the road where all routes have to go - large area well lite and busy due to shops and through fare would feel a hell of lot safer if I was by myself at night traveling.
.

If you looked at structures/buildings/layouts that feel safer to women you'd find old men and young kids and even adult men may also feel safer in them and thus want to spend more time in them.

Slippers - they injure more people than you think.

They're entirely correct. The far right have actively attacked women, verbally and physically (a breathtaking number of its leading figures charged with DV, CSA, rape and sexual assault) but claim to be saving us from migrants and trans people.

Similarly, terfs have a very long record of defending men credibly accused of sexual assault, and who make nasty sexual remarks about women. All the while attacking every single thing about trans people.

Getting addicted to hating on a minority, eagerly scanning the news for every tiny mention of someone trans so the feeding frenzy can continue, is not feminism.

Msking nasty personal comments about trans people's bodies isn't feminism either.

The money spent on anti-trans activism versus projects which would actually benefit women just sickens me.

But worst of all is this ridiculous pretence that we have 'safe spaces' which men are simply too honourable to walk into. The column inches and hundreds of thousands wasted on this utter fiction while teenage rape victims have no services and no justice, no safety and no hope oh my god.

When are terf women going to notice that all they've accomplished is a drastic uptick in anti-trans violence (especially in schools) while providing an actual safe space for incredibly creepy men to discuss children's genitals?

And which one of these 2 categories, do you think Beira's Place sits under?

I used to think that you were a parody TRA but your posts are increasingly insane.

You never, ever comment about TRA and trans violence

You outright LIE about "TERFs"

You're apparently too stupid or too disingenuous to admit that safe spaces for women are less safe if men are allowed to self-ID into them

You LIE yet again about the level of anti-trans violence

"TERF women" provide a "safe space for men to discuss children's genitals"? What the actual FUCK is wrong inside your head?

The point is not to respond. The intent is to hijack and disrespect the purpose of FWR.

Just dont encourage them ie give them the satisfaction of thinking you actually care about that they say.

Its a wind up.

I was really interested to see there were a few more posts since I last checked in late last night.

But what a piss take.

Virtually nothing to do with the article and for instance feminist political organising, but instead collaborating with a known poster who derails every thread they can.

FWR is becoming a laughing stock to those who used to look to it for informed discussion.

Not the TRAs whose intent is so obvious, but that so many clog up threads by responding.

That is what they want.

They want us to talk about them and too many see to want to gratify them.

It's noticeable how unhinged TransParentlyNonsense posts/replies are. Just batshit, totally provocative. And it "works".
