Teenage boy receives referral order after stabbing girl who rejected him

This happened locally to me. A 14 year old girl turned down the advances of a teenage boy who then used fake social media accounts to harass her. When she refused to go out with him, he followed her into a shop and stabbed her repeatedly. He also stabbed the shop owner who tried to intervene.

What did this little pillar of the community get as a punishment, a restraining order and a 12 month referral order. I’m so bloody angry that the safety of women and girls is seen as unimportant and the sentences given to offenders are so pathetic.

The victim impact statement is heartbreaking.

Sorry about the DM link, it’s in my local paper but behind a paywall https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-16150735/Moment-schoolboy-follows-girl-repeatedly-stabs.html

Moment schoolboy follows girl and stabs her in shop

The 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, launched the attack in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, on the morning of March 15 after she refused to go on a date with him.

Imagine if this 14 year old who attempted to murder a girl who said no to him, after he'd harassed her and stalked her and premeditated his attack on her, actually got a sentence to somewhere like Broadmoor and got psychiatric help and a lifetime restraining order from her. What a ridiculous "punishment". It's basically permission at this point isn't it.

I think the only thing that would stop MENS vawg is if women started killing rapists and violent men in the same quantities as men attack women. I imagine then it might become a priority to men eg most judges, politicians etc, because it's affecting MEN negatively.

Violence and sexual crimes by teens should not be able to get a slap on the hand of a punishment.

I have 2 teen DD. Girls have been getting requests for nude photos since they were 11. In primary school. Getting called awful names and slandered for rejection of a boy. It's relentless.
The boy who at 12 asked my daughter repeatedly and daily to meet him in the park to give him a blowjob and his parents who did nothing repeatedly when he was not taking no for an answer are the problem. "oh but he's got ADHD." .... so what? So do my daughters, do you see them behaving like this? It's a porn and incel culture thing, not an ADHD thing.
it's lax shit parents. Far too many of them are having far too many kids.

So sorry to hear that, I don't know WTF is going on nowadays, I can only surmise that it is violent films and the availability of porn, plus unrestricted use of social media. Back in the seventies, when I was a 15/16/17 year old lad, if you asked a girl out, or asked them for a dance at the school dance and they said no, then that was that, you accepted it and behaved accordingly.
I think something very bad is happening now, you alluded to the fact that excuses are made for people, based on what they have been diagnosed with, ADHD for instance. Everyone has to be held to account for being violent to other people, particularly when it is males being violent towards women and girls.

Here’s the unduely lenient sentence form link.

Its Bristol Crown Court
21st September
You don’t need his name, you can just describe the crime.

Done. This is shocking!!
He stabbed her several times, this is absolutely attempted murder!!!!
The government says it wants to tackle rising violence against women and girls, how about making sure the perpetrators get a suitable punishment… Whatever happened to making an example out of someone? I don’t believe he’ll ever not be a danger to girls and women.

Sentencing the boy, Judge Ian Lawrie told the court the stabbing was a "very troubling event" but he did not take the view that the offender was a "danger".
He said: "He's still young. And he is capable of learning."
The judge told the court he was "surprised" the boy had spent three months in custody as "while the offences are serious", it was "inconsistent" with the usual process for youth cases.

Stabs/attempts murder of a child for rejecting romantic or sexual advances and isn't to be considered a danger?

There needs to be some accountability for judges. This isn’t right.

Sadly it doesn’t apply to Youth courts which this was.

But no, it really isn’t right.

I've been reminded of another incident in which the punishment seems extraordinarily lenient

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czdz3pvp59go

To give the CPS credit he was charged with, but found not guilty, attempted murder. He stabbed her in the head. He provided no explanation as to why he did this, a paper thin excuse for taking a fucking enormous knife into school and quite cunningly got the teacher alone before he attacked her.

I actually think in this instance the judge was constrained by the charges. I don't really understand why the CPS/police didnt go for an attempted murder or GBH with intent charge - with plenty of evidence of intent and CCTV etc.

Sinseer1 · 10/10/2026 08:48

I’ve just been catching up with this and it’s appauling. Unfortunately as it’s a youth court they can’t review the leniency of the sentence. I’ve quickly set this up to try and show some support to the family. https://c.org/YwzNRwXHz2

This. The comments the judge made sound worrying.

But even a more sensible judge would be constrained by the law.

But he sent his mother a text to say he was sorry. Sorry to his mother, I mean. And he was apparently "very upset". So that's alright, then.
