Your ovaries are amazing.

Some research about what your ovaries might be doing throughout your life.

The finding could help explain why women tend to be less healthy than men as they age, even though they live longer, Duncan speculates. The postreproductive ovary could secrete molecules that predispose people to chronic inflammation in their menopausal years. The gap in knowledge of the ovary’s biology after menopause is “a little bit frightening,” she adds. “We really owe it to women’s health to study this period of time.”

My reason for sharing it here: the article says "but it’s not feasible to obtain ovaries from healthy young people."

They don't have to list reasons why it's so wrong to take ovaries from perfectly healthy young women.

I bet, in the future, women will routinely have bits of their ovaries frozen then grafted back on in perimenopause. It’s already established medicine for cancer patients etc.

I think you've misunderstood what they meant by that - their samples are from older women because they're from people who've lost their ovaries due to medical issues and this tends to happen to older women. They're not taking anyone's "perfectly healthy" ovaries.

Thanks for the link, it's nice to read a science article that's willing to say the word women.
It would be good to know if this study does produce any information regarding women as they age, and if it's related to any health issues women have that could be prevented.
She can have mine, one is shrivelled up like a walnut though, good for a comparison study. 😁

Mine couldn't be found during an ultrasound, ....withered away she said.
