Advice from Mumsnet TERVEN

Hoping to get some advice here. Mumsnet admin - please don’t delete as am not posting link or details!

I have 5-10 PR copies of my new non fiction TERF book that I can send out to people or organisations who I hope will read it and help spread the word. Not going to name the book as last time I did Mumsnet deleted my post!!

If you were me who would you send it to? The clue to what the book’s about is in my username and it’s an account of the past decade of insanity in the UK.

I have thought of a few people to send it to but would be good to hear ideas.

The Works, obviously. Cut out the middle man.

Rudeness coming from the usual side I see 🥱

April1625 · 13/06/2026 16:24

Congrats on the book OP. It's a great idea and I look forward to reading it. Maybe you can enter into literary competitions, and it could get picked up by the mainstream press either by winning (!) or the backlash for daring to speak up for women's rights. Good luck

TonTonMacoute · 13/06/2026 16:26

Sarah Ditum, Joanna Williams (both journalists)

Thanks all! I had some of these names on my list but not all. And thanks to those who downloaded it too. I know the paperback is pricy but the book is pretty long with lots of pages as it covers ten years and I had to set the price that high so I don’t actually lose money on it through Amazon!

And if The Works give me a call and ask to stock it, I’ll be all in! I might even do a special edition with green and purple sprayed pages 😀

And yes - free to read on Kindle Unlimited - I am a huge fan of KU and half the books I read are on it. These diaries have taken up my LIFE for the past year so it’s nice to have time to read again.

There is plenty of mention of Mumsnet in the diaries, too. I haven’t always been a prolific poster but this board genuinely kept me sane at times over the years when it felt like everyone, including people I’d considered friends, had gone mad. I say thank you in the diaries, but thank you here, too. You’re all brilliant.

Jo Bartosch?

Thanks. It’s already published so just keen to send out a few PR copies.

Will it automatically go to the British Library?

Tallisker · 13/06/2026 18:25

Alex Massie is perhaps another one.

Terfdiarist · 13/06/2026 21:03

Yes, I think I have to send a couple of copies to the British Library. Alex Massie another good suggestion, thanks - he’s actually mentioned in the diaries!

Totally agree with pp who suggested Sonia Sodha

MyPearlViper · 13/06/2026 22:14

Simon Edge? He wrote the brilliant The Edge of the World is Flat, a satire on all this

I imagine The Terf Diaries are not on sale anywhere like Amazon.

And you would be wrong. I've just bought the Kindle version and look forward to reading it.

MarieDeGournay · 14/06/2026 01:34

National Library of Scotland?😀
I'm just being facetious - seriously, congrats on your book, OP, hope it does really well.
I'm going to get the paperback.

If you send it to other people you have mentioned then at least some of them are likely to (self) promote it for you

😉

Ha! Not sure the delicate flowers at the National Library of Scotland could cope with The TERF Diaries … they’re only just recovering from being forced to display The Women Who Wouldn’t Wheesht! Though maybe I’ll sneak a copy onto the shelves when I’m up in Edinburgh later in the summer 😀

Sounds like a plan, and we do like it when a plan comes together. 😂

Yes, this! I’d say it’s your best chance of getting the word of mouth sales that you really need.

Amandaholdenstits · 14/06/2026 11:03

Found it on Amazon! From the sample I read this looks good - just the ticket to have a few incidents in my arsenal for when the subject ever comes up for debate. I'm going to buy the paperback so it's there as ready reference. Spoiler alert - I'm always the one to bring it up - sadly most people we know are either Be Kind or just not that bothered - as it appears to have nothing directly to do with them, it's not a big deal.
What makes me particularly sad is there are so many women who don't get it, if not going along with the propaganda even though it's not in their interests.

Terfdiarist · 14/06/2026 17:33

Thanks everyone! Just had a look and to my delight the book is no 1 in one of its categories - does that mean I can say I wrote a bestseller? 😂😂

Just found it on Amazon. Given you're in Scotland I'd send it to For Women Scotland, Women Won't Wheesht, WRN Scotland, Women O Scotland, Ash Regan, Jo Cherry & JK Rowling.

MassiveWordSalad · 14/06/2026 21:36

Thanks for bringing your book to our attention, @Terfdiarist I will have a read. Can’t think of anyone not already mentioned, but best of luck x

Amandaholdenstits · 15/06/2026 08:28

Just placed my order on Amazon for the paperback. Can't wait to see it gracing my bookshelf and hope it might appeal to curious minds.

Terfdiarist · 21/06/2026 08:14

Happy Sunday everyone. Just wanted to check in to ask if anyone who kindly bought the diaries has tried to leave a review? I know of 5 people on the past week who have tried to leave reviews - one of them pretty long, she said - and they haven’t appeared! Do Amazon suppress reviews on books like mine? It does say reviews can take longer if they need to be manually checked but a couple of them were left last weekend.

OP posts:
April1625 · 21/06/2026 21:05

You've just reminded me to buy the paperback. I'll try to leave a review when read.

HenriettaSwanLeavitt · 21/06/2026 21:12

Paperback has arrived, but it's going to take a while to read! I'll review when I've read it.

Terfdiarist · 22/06/2026 18:41

Thank you! A review has finally gone up - but only because the reviewer chased Amazon up and asked what happened to her review. I have a feeling a book written by the other side sought have the same problems with disappearing reviews…
