Have you seen this clip? sorry if it's been posted already, I had a quick look.
It is so refreshing, so unbelievably amazing when a politician speaks with unabashed clarity and reason.

He laments the fact that dozens of labour MPs are not bothered by the struggles of working people, but rather stood up in parliament to moan about "men" getting into "women's changing rooms"
He actually called them men https://x.com/i/status/2061644930234150992.
He has swept me off my feet.

Sounds like he’s publicly sane re puberty blockers too

For clarity, he said "We had dozens of Labour MPs standing up to talk about how they didn't like the law which says men can't go in women's changing rooms."

ScrollingLeaves · Yesterday 10:38

What a relief. I heard some of those people he is referring to, and felt exasperated that they still seem so incapable of understanding anything beyond being kind to transpeople means they must be allowed to use single sex spaces, or else they are being excluded from society. And also means gender non-conforming women using the Ladies’ will be attacked by other women who will think they are men.

When a politician says something honest, succinct and sensible it reminds you just how many insincere, word-salading, waffling wankers we have in parliament.

Doesn’t it just, I could cry at how utterly gutless most MP’s are today.

MrsOvertonsWindow · Yesterday 10:44

Incredible what a relief it is to hear a politician speaking honestly. As for all the others wailing about men not being allowed into changing rooms to watch girls and women undressing...... 🙄

FarriersGirl · Yesterday 10:46

We so need more politicians to be like him! Ms Derbyshire tripped herself into a big hole.....

womendeserveequalhumanrights · Yesterday 10:49

Jonathan Hinder was brilliant here - can we have him as PM please?

Nevertheless, it shouldn't be some big deal for him to show decency towards women. I'm daily apalled at how the rot of misogyny has crept through our society and how powerful men AND women have thrown young girls and women under the bus of male wants.

How has it got to this that so many MPs are arguing essentially for breaking the law, for decriminalising indecent exposure and voyeurism. Even if the man entering the women's single sex space doesn't intend that, it will be experienced as those crimes by the women in those single sex spaces (hospital wards, toilets, changing rooms). Funny how 'lived experience' or it being a hate crime if it's perceived that way doesn't matter when it's women and girls perception and experience.

Yes, he spoke at one of the anti-pb trial events that I attended.

Edited

It’s always been thus. I remember when the hate speech laws came into policing and we were told women were being specifically left out of them because it would be too much to police hate speech against women.

Who imagined men would then gleefully use those laws specifically against women, hey?

BunfightBetty · Yesterday 11:15

How refreshing.

I'd like to think the Labour top brass will take note.

But they won't, they'll plough on blithely ignoring the glaring issues the majority of the electorate care about, in favour of their middle class ideological hobby horses.

EmpressDomesticatednottamed · Yesterday 11:22

Crumbs, and the universe didn't disappear in a puff of green smoke?
Just the Emperors new clothes.
He's the MP for Pendle, on the side of the witches perchance 😉

Thingybob · Yesterday 11:30

The awkwardness of VD is glorious to watch. I wonder if she was reflecting on the part she played in spreading the ideology by fawning over trans kids? Maybe she'll be named one day in a public inquiry

AnneLovesGilbert · Yesterday 11:33

He’s been excellent on the topic for quite a while. I’m a big fan.

Shedmistress · Yesterday 11:58

Gosh she shut right up there didn't she! I expect when she was pushing the 'give me an example' she wasnt expecting that response.

Finally someone got her telt.

ArabellaScott · Yesterday 12:27

Applause!

With this and the new Health Sec also talking plainly and clearly, I am heartened.

Shortshriftandlethal · Yesterday 12:33

Do you think Victoria Derbyshire was expecting to him to talk about trans issues, or something else, when she was pushing him to specify? It certainly closed her down.

Was he referring to a session in the house, today ( at which dozens of Labour MPs stood up to decry the SC ruling)?

Shedmistress · Yesterday 12:44

I expect she thought it was going to be about the Middle East and wasnt prepared to be transphobic and assume that he was talking about 'trans women' when he said 'men'.

PencilNeck · Yesterday 12:47

Well, actually, it's about any man because we can't actually tell the difference between a transwoman and any other man, can we?

Oh, and claiming that people are transphobic because they know males are males, however they identify or present is so over.

MyAutumnCrow · Yesterday 12:48

I’ve been interviewed by Victoria Derbyshire in a past life. She does walk herself into these situations, mostly because she’s not good at dealing with people who are blunt, honest and correct.

There’s a lot to admire about JH. I really hope he survives the next general election cycle.

moto748e · Yesterday 13:04

It seems like the handful of MPs, MSPs etc who talk sense on sex are generally disowned by their parties: Joanna Cherry, Neal Hanvey, Rosie Duffield... looks like JH can join the gang.

I am well aware thanks. That was the literal point I made.

I walked into the ladies behind a very gnc woman yesterday. From a distance she looked like a young man, but a quick glance close up told me she was very clearly a woman. It honestly was not difficult! It's not the gotcha they think it is, is it?

ParmaVioletTea · Yesterday 18:20

And a Labour politician talking about the working class!

Who knew ???
