New thread. You know the deal - women's pub, men to the Staunch Ally next door.

Some of us are currently on the trail of an international seed smuggling ring, just for background information.

I dreamt about gerbils last night. Lots of gerbils. But none skilled in hospitality.

That's sort-of a win, isn't it? Not about exams that you haven't prepared for, lack of clothing in public places, giant sweeping brushes chasing you down the street..

You may not remember this detail in your dream, but the gerbils were in fact heading off to catering school, and mixology classes😁

Gerbils aside, I hope it was a restful night's sleep and you have a good day todayFlowers

Chersfrozenface · 08/06/2026 09:16

I'd count dreams of gerbils as a win. Unless they included gerbils in dire peril, which is very much the tenor of my dreams these days

It's true, I haven't been in the Bluestocking a great deal recently. Too much real life stuff. I have been trying to keep up with Gosie's adventures. My, that rodent gets around!

EmpressaurusKitty · 08/06/2026 09:23

I’m not sure what I dreamed about, but after a weekend of pub lunches & explaining the concept of Yorkshire puddings on an Italian WhatsApp group I’m pretty sure food came into it.
Kitty woke me just before the alarm went off by pressing her paw pad into my bare back. And that felt incredibly weird, though I’m grateful it was that & not a claw.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/06/2026 09:33

I had a long anxiety dream last night, about not being able to find dh in the supermarket, and searching all the aisles over and over again before ringing him and finally managing to meet up with him. Even worse, though, was the fact that the supermarket, though massive, did not sell ANY biscuits!

I'm now off to knitting, then the cleaners are in this afternoon.

I can't make really good Yorkshire puddings - my mum could - hers were massive and crispy and delicious, but no matter what I do, mine disappoint.

I had a cat who used to wake me up by licking my eyelids until I opened them.

I'm not sure there's such a thing as a disappointing Yorkshire. My mum made them (rarely) in a Pyrex dish. They only rose round the edges and were pure stodge in the middle. I still loved them.

The owls I posted upthread. I can take no credit. We were on a path on a hillside so the tree canopy was at eye level. I was watching where I was putting my feet and would have walked right by them. Someone else actually spotted them and fella took the picture. I did spot a woodcock when we were driving home.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2026 10:44

Proper big Yorkshires should be puddingy (clue is in the name!) ie ‘stodgy’ in the middle, not all puff and blow. Mum did a big one in a tin sometimes, she wasn’t a great cook but they were excellent. Just as well as dad was a Yorkshireman Grin

DauntlessDamson · 08/06/2026 11:02

I found myself preening at a family dinner recently when my nephew mentioned a Yorkshire pudding I once made when he was a child. When he saw the size of it (made in a square tin) he said " Wow, it's like a castle" - and it was, with 'turrets' at the corners.

He's 45 now!😁

Boiledbeetle · 08/06/2026 11:07

Can someone explain why the gerbils are laughing at me. I know I haven't been in for a few days, but that's no reason to just stand there laughing at me!

Maybe if you had a look in a mirror, you might see.

Did your cats dress you up while you were sleeping?

MyrtleLion · 08/06/2026 11:38

My DH has profusely apologised for telling me in a dream that I needed to do an urgent thing first thing this morning and for being out when I came rushing downstairs to ask him about said urgent thing.

It was definitely all his fault.

Shame on those gerbils, Boily!
It's obvious from your outfit that someone described how to woman properly over on another thread and said 'Educate yourself' , so you did.😁

Sorry to hear that real life is being difficult, Cher. You are missed when you're not here💙
Hope real life, and the tenor of your dreams, gets better soonSmile

[so who is the tenor of your dreams? Grin]

I merely took women's fashion advice from a man, as all self respecting women should do.

Erm. Has Maud been having a wardrobe clear out?

As if she'd part with clothes!

"... I always loved those clothes which is why I now prefer to dress in skirts and dresses myself. I love feeling the flowing materials (nothing sexual) and wearing the very kind of clothes that I wish today`s women would wear themselves. Give me a chiffon skirt or dress and a lovely lacey petticoat (waist slip or full slip) and I feel totally happy and more natural than ever."

(I won't mention @Hedgehogforshort post on the above thread about her sexual exploits after tea last night! Oops! I just did!)

ErrolTheDragon · 08/06/2026 12:10

I’m just glad that hedgehogs, of necessity, have to only frolic consensually. Shock

Boily does Grayson Perry.

Woley your dream in which you could find neither DH nor biscuits reminded me of a group ['A popular beat combo, m'lud'] from, I think the 80s.
I never heard their music but I loved their name: Half Man Half Biscuit.

Half Man Half Biscuit would have been an answer to all your problems in that dream, wouldn't they?😁

PastaAllaNorma · 08/06/2026 13:27

I had a wonderful dream just before I got up.

Every one of my favourite book series had released a new, excellent novel over the course of the summer and I was travelling to book readings by all of them and buying the aurhors flowers.

I was so excited! The moment of disillusionment when I opened my eyes to NOT see that lovely stack was quite something.
