Can I Sue?

I was out for a country walk yesterday in the sunshine.

I had a picnic and all was lovely. I wanted to cross a field that had a stream but saw a fierce looking bull at the far end. The farmer was nearby and I said it was a shame that the bull was there as it meant I could not sit by the stream and enjoy my picnic.

The farmer told me not to worry as the bull now identified as a cow.

I entered the field and laid out my picnic in the shade by the stream.

However, it became clear that the farmer had misinformed me and the bull charged at me, she caused my picnic to fly everywhere and I injured myself as I fled.

Can I sue the farmer?

His defence is that the bull is actually gender fluid and that day the bull was identifying as a bull. I want to be sensitive about it but do I have a case?

It's half term, isn't it?

Sometimes it feels like it's always half term on here! 😁

Who’s Sue?

I know of a Boy Named Sue, perhaps it's him.

Will no one think of the poor cow in all this. She/he just wants to live his/her best life being its best authentic self.

I’m loving the first few replies talking about the dangers of bulls and cows and not of ignoring the sexed reality of the bull 😆

It’s a childhood trauma. Local news papers reporting hiking deaths. Plus a farmer was gored to death at a local show. It was the talk of the valley.

Mind you; cow karma. A few got killed by lightning.

Rita, Bob and Sue too.

What if the capital letter identifies as a lower case letter?

You've got me there!

They're bullocks on the Toon Moor... You reminded me of my know it all sister in law. She used to ask to have our soft as shite Labrador for a week, in the holidays.

Her and the kids love her and she used the dog as an excuse to get them out of the house.

Anyway, dropping her off, I said not to take her on the Moor, because there were cattle on it.

"Rubbish! She's lovely and friendly, you don't know what you're talking about!" came the reply. I told her to let her off, if the cows came on strong.

Next afternoon, the phone conversation went:

"Can you BELIEVE it?!! We were chased by cows! I didn't know they could run so fast!"

Oh? Did you let her off?

"No, don't be stupid."

Well, that's why they chased you, she'd have been fine and got away.

"Rubbish! You don't know what you're talking about, something else upset them."

Speaking from experience, the fiercest bovine is indeed a mum who thinks you’re after her calf. Never underestimate how fast they can run or how high they can jump. Standard field gate? Easy. The softest mum can turn when she’s protecting her baby. Bit like mumsnet.

🤣

Honestly; some of them recently have been female too. The weird bunch a few years ago included an extremely tall Friesian heifer.

They were twatty today, I saw a bloke chasing them away. I think he had a lab.

The problem is there are big signs saying ‘keep your dog on the lead due to cows “ and yet it would be safer to leave them off.

A handy guide.

Thank you for this guide, telling me al about cows and bulls-it's a great read and, in ordinary circumstances, would be of great help in identifying a cow and a bull.

But, in this case, it doesn't really help.

I knew I was looking at a bull but the farmer told me it self identified as a cow and that was why I entered the field. I was told that the bull identified as a cow and was no longer a dangerous bull.

That guide does not have section on self identifying Trans Bulls. A woeful omission in my my opinion.

OP, you're a bit early with the thread, although I understand you probably have a lot of time on your hands as it's half term. But, you probably would get more responses if you repost during Cowes Week, first week in August this year.

You'll have a lot of time then to post as well, because it will be summer holidays!

You have completely missed the point of this thread @BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth .

I would have thought, with your user name, that you would have understood it.

You're not on your own but luckily, judging by all the agrees and loves that each post has attracted-there plenty of people who get it-those who disagree with males self identifying as females.

Never mind. There will always be those who need things spelling out in words of one syllable.

The point was-what if a farmer decided his bull was now female and told walkers not to worry. There was no longer a dangerous bull in the field, as it had now identified as a cow. It would be transphobic to say the bull wasn't a cow, so what would happen if the walker took the farmer at his word and went into the field to discover that no matter what the cow was called or what it identified as, it was a bull. Could the walker sue the farmer.

In the same way, men who now call themselves women are still men and some of them will be a danger to women, Call yourself what you like but nobody can become the opposite sex. If a man calling himself a woman is put into a female prison and a female prisoner is raped, can the woman sue the authorities who tried to insist the man was a woman.

Now that's a long explanation-completely killing the allegory illustrating the absurdity of males saying they are female.

Thanks to all those who did get it.

I know it's possible that some will come along to say they still don't get it or it is too stupid to follow-people often say this when it is they who are too stupid to follow.

Anyway, I've done my best to explain and if you're still rubbing your head-crack on. I won't be giving any more explanations!
