Maybe we dont even need the stupid guidance. Enough employers get sued, they'll work it out eventually.

To be fair, it really is very simple:

  1. nobody can change sex
  2. if anything is single-sex (because there's a proportionate and legitimate reason for this) you're not allowed in the one that's for the opposite sex

Applies to changing rooms, sports, associations etc etc.

At this point anyway, if the guidance ever does come out, case law has moved on and it will be obsolete.

Reform are obviously not going to do anything on day 1, that's empty bragging echoing their role model Trump. We're not the US and any legislation they want to repeal or enact will need to go through normal drafting and parliamentary processes. The most they're going to do is put it in the first kings speech.

Not that that's much comfort, I hope they're never in the position to try. Come /on/ labour, you're looking increasingly silly and the opposition aren't so very incompetent as to miss an open goal.

Urghhhhh. I can see it all now.....

After previously saying that the 6 new EHRC commissioners would get all the updated guidance, including the long-awaited services guidance, out in early 2027, Phillipson said "We recognise that case law has moved on since we started our final review. It's important to get this right, so we're doing a systematic review of all relevant case law and expect to have the guidance out as early as 2030"
