Agreed. And as I've pointed out on several threads, in England schools are bound by Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). There's a new draft that should shortly to be ratified as the consultation has now closed and it's absolutely explicit that single sex toilets MUST be provided (para 106) and in relation to changing rooms "Schools and colleges must not allow a child, aged 11 years or older at the start of the school year, to undress in front of a child of the opposite biological sex, to comply with their safeguarding duties" (para 112).
Safeguarding guidance is statutory for schools - it's a must do, not negotiable. So unless this is removed from KCSIE after the consultation - and there a lot of male led adult groups very unhappy that they're being told no access for men and boys to women and girls undressing - it's a slam dunk for English schools. They must comply and Ofsted will ensure that schools comply with all safeguarding legislation.
Such a shame that safeguarding children seems to be an optional extra for so many Scottish politicians.
