Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
thetinsoldier · 11/03/2026 15:58

Good. Hope this opens the floodgates for women who have been badly let down by their unions and their illegal policies.

lcakethereforeIam · 11/03/2026 15:58

I love the suffragette colours union flag.

According to the article Wes Streeting is a member of that union, he should be asked about this.

Retiredfromthere · 11/03/2026 16:06

In this article is this claim: 'Women are a protected group under the Equality Act 2010. Those undergoing gender reassignment, which can include non-binary people who say they are neither fully male nor female, are a separate, protected group.' I had not seen the claim that non-binary can be 'undergoing gender re-assignment' and thus protected under that characteristic. Is this a legally sound argument?

I've seen that claim more than once.

IANAL but I can't see how it is legally sound.

The GRA recognises that individuals go through a process of changing their gender from male to female or vice versa, but they retain their birth gender until they get a GRC. Sex Matters quotes R (Green) v Secretary of State for Justice [2013].

Plus government guidance and court decisions emphasise that non-binary is not a recognised status in law.

HildegardP · 11/03/2026 16:34

@Retiredfromthere Only if they're on their way from A to B, the PC of Gender Reassignment being a stubbornly binary matter in UK law. It doesn't matter if he/she claims that he/she is a Very Special Little Sunbeam, as far as the law's concerned, enbies aren't a thing

Soontobe60 · 11/03/2026 16:34

No, ‘non binary’ is not recognised in law as gender reassignment means changing from one gender, which is either male or female, to the opposite gender.

BetsyM00 · 11/03/2026 16:43

Only an employment tribunal decision, so not binding, but Haech Lockwood v Cheshire and Wirral NHS Foundation Trust ruled that non-binary is not covered by gender reassignment.

No as non binary is not recognised in law and has been found not to be covered under gender reassignment in 1 crt case and the land rover case involved a man who went on to get a grc.
So at best its contested law and at worst completely false.

Veering OT a little bit, I just realised I had not seen the word "enbies" (or "enby") written out for a long time, and now I remember just how deeply insufferable it is.

Such a "oooh special little me, everyone look how totally unique I am" word*, when almost to a tee they'll all have identikit fluffy hair in dire need of a deep condition (and fresh colour), Harry Potter glasses and some form of checked clothing, at minimum.

(* not even a word, a nauseatingly cutesy phoneticism)

Excellent news. Thanks for posting. Noons are well overdue for being held to account

Brilliant, I was hoping some brave women would finally turn their attention to the Unions, good luck to them.

"Roz Foyer, the general secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress, described the judgment as “hugely problematic” and said she did not agree with it."

Who the hell does this women thinks she is to "not agree" with the SC, does she really think she has more say on such matters than the highest court in the land. 🤯 The arrogance is astounding. 😤

With any luck after sorting out the Unions, they be coming for her next. Go women go. ✊

hholiday · 11/03/2026 21:21

I’m so sick of women having to sue every union, organisation and public body in turn. Why can’t they just follow the law?

It's infuriating. They'll all drone on about VAWG etc yet openly discriminate against women members.

I started another thread as I thought this was another Union!

But why I started the other thread was to ask wasn't Community the Union we were all being encouraged to join?

And where is the changed definition, because without knowing that it doesn't help in having an informed discussion.

Does anyone have the link, and also the link to the substack article referred to?

Wasn’t it Affinity?

Wasn’t it Affinity?

Thanks - that sounds right.

I did search for threads on trade unions but nothing came up.

So at least that doesn't mean which I was starting to think that a union that supported sex based rights had been stonewalled.

Phew!

Gender reassignment for non binaries? What are they going from and to?

My head hurts.

WittyLimeBiscuit · 13/03/2026 18:06

I don't know why women pay dues to Unison. Two-thirds of the membership are female, but the woke bro' leadership are all twaw. No thought for the rights of actual women.
