"She" didn't touch the poor man who works for the hotel where the offense happened. "He" did

Male hotel employee groped by trans woman in Liverpool.

Trans woman cites difficult upbringing and "crazy mind". He also has a previous conviction of obtaining/owning child "pornography". He will be on the sex offenders register for 7 years and has a community service sentence, although he'd rather go to prison to help his mental health.

How come when we rightly point out that gender dysphoria is a psychological condition we're wrong, but when they cite mental health issues in court that's fine

Shende had a previous conviction from 2023 for making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

And how often does it come back to this?

Another sign that there is a long way to go before we turn back the clock to a time when the press were not squeamish about reporting these matters clearly and honestly: 2026 convictions include Steve Wright's for murder of a girl and attempted murder of a woman, both in 1999.

Update February 2026

At a hearing at the Old Bailey on February 2, Wright (now aged 67) unexpectedly changed his plea to guilty and admitted the murder of 17-year-old Victoria Hall in 1999 and the attempted kidnap of 22-year-old Emily Doherty the previous night.

He was sentenced to 40 years in custody and told he will die in prison. It was the first time Wright had publicly admitted any murder. The reason for his change of plea is unknown but it is speculated that the DNA evidence was compelling. The judge referenced DNA swabs taken from Ms Hall’s body “showed you not only abducted and murdered that child, you also raped or sexually assaulted her”.

Among the large amount of 2026 media coverage, not a single article referenced involvement of Wright’s transvestism/cross–dressing/fetishism in his sexually motivated murders of women, although it was relatively widely covered at the time of his convictions in 2008 (e.g. see articles in <a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20080501153518/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1579403/Steve-Wright-A-real-Jekyll-and-Hyde.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Daily Telegraph/ Daily Mail/The New York Post).

Many media articles covered fears that Wright may be responsible for the murders and disappearances of several other women and girls in and around Ipswich and Norwich at the time he was living there. Others have focused on the missed chances to catch him earlier, particularly the fact that police reportedly dismissed Ms Doherty’s account of her attempted abduction and did not take a formal statement from her until two years after Victoria Hall’s murder. According to the Daily Mail, the court heard Ms Doherty had given an accurate description of Wright, his car and number plate which should have identified him – a chilling and infuriating parallel with how women’s testimonies and descriptions that could have caught Peter Sutcliffe (who murdered 13 women and girls in the 1970s and 1980s) were disregarded by police. The two attending male officers apparently did not believe Ms Doherty, failed to make notes and did not log it as a crime at the time, telling her to ‘just forget all about it’ and claiming she probably made it up just to get a lift home. She told the court ‘When the police arrived, their first question to me was, “How much have you had to drink tonight?” They didn’t believe me. To this day I am furious.’

Is this really a woman? The offence plus ‘pigtails with pink and blue ribbons’ makes me think not but you’d never know by the reporting…

And why is the Telegraph referring to him as "she"?

In fairness, unless they've edited the article since or I've missed one, all the uses of "she" I can see in it are direct quotes from the lawyers in court; the article itself only seems to use his name, or "the defendant" for example. Though still annoying that they call him a "trans woman" and "born male", as though he no longer is! And not sure why the prosecutor felt the need to cause that pervy man "she", either...

RavelsDancer · 05/03/2026 19:36

Could you maybe just stop using the term "transwoman", please?

It's a form of self-harm when a woman uses it. It's misogynistic hate speech, dictated, laid into your mouths by people who harbour a deep interest in keeping you small, used for making verbal space for malignant narcissists.

Each time someone uses it, or stuff like "vulnerability" and "marginalised" in this context, it means more verbal space for Buffalo Bill. Because a lot of men know that the genie of feminism has been coming out of the bottle since before WW2 and is not going back in. This movement is the reaction to this process, and to MeToo.

I know the United Kingdom does not allow freedom of speech in the strictest sense, but does it forbid the right to object, too? Is there an actual right to object to compelled speech anywhere in Britain?

RavelsDancer · 05/03/2026 19:39

And I forget all the Freudian shit that consists of having problems with words like womb, woman, menstruation or mother. This generation is really, truly fucked. I blame it on the generation before.

"HMP YOI Peterborough is the only purpose-built prison in the country to accommodate both male and female prisoners, who are kept separate at all times. The prison also has a Mother and Baby Unit on site, housing up to 12 mothers."

Just the place to put a paedophile on remand whether they are male or female.
