Silly girl. I hope she grows up and understands the consequences of erasing the word ‘woman’ one day.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 24/02/2026 14:04

Don't forget it's women who are posing as men who are causing this particular erasure.

RudolphRNR · 24/02/2026 14:20

I don’t know this woman but in defence of her wording, I don’t think she is necessarily making a trans-related claim if that’s your complaint, more a medical statistical inclusion.
I am one of the “1 in 10 born with a uterus” afflicted with endometriosis. I no longer have a uterus (hysterectomy) but I was born with one. Removing my uterus has not cured my endometriosis, I still suffer, because it is still infested in other parts of my body.

Actually its more the men who want to claim womanhood and divorce the reality of being a woman from the word woman as its othering of them by talking about things that they can never be part of and reminding them that they're men

solerolover · 24/02/2026 14:37

"Woman" is not a slur.

To hell with this ideology and its insistence on decoupling the word woman from sex-based reality, including medical conditions like endometriosis, that uniquely afflict us as female humans.

Funny how this kind of dehumanising language is hardly ever directed at men though!🤔

Chersfrozenface · 24/02/2026 14:40

Women born without a uterus, such as those with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome (it's in the news today, as it happens) can have endometriosis..

So her claim is factually incorrect, as well as stupidly worded.

You are still woman and always will be.

However, as mentioned before, some women are born without a uterus or have had a hysterectomy and can still have endometriosis. Plus, there are lots of women out there who do not understand this language, but would understand the word "woman". Making women invisible leads to real life discrimination of women. There is research on that.

I walked past this at the clinic today and did a double take.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/62b5c50d8fa8f53571e1313c/UKHSA-12330-rubella-2022-leaflet.pdf

At first glance, it looks like pregnancy was something anyone can "catch".
It's actually an advert for the rubella vaccine.

If the government can't say "Women of child bearing age" then I guess pop stars can be forgiven...

But that's not how maths works..... or indeed biology.

Meh. I think 'If you can get pregnant' is OK, and snappier on a poster than 'woman of child-bearing age'.

'People born with a uterus', on the other hand...🙄

That would be some kind of cosmic sick joke - no uterus but still endometriosis….

I actually think that one is fine, and possibly more accurate than "women of child-bearing age", as there will be a small proportion of those who will know they aren't able to get pregnant for various medical reasons.

Timeforaglassofwine · 24/02/2026 16:13

If only there was an easier way of saying people born with a uterus? Perhaps they could try woman as shorthand, it has a certain ring.
Endometriosis is a horrible condition, and the focus should be with the condition itself, and not the stupid, pseudo inclusive terminology.

No it's not, the reason for the 'inclusion' is to include women who insists they're men and then go on to do the most womanly of things and that's get pregnant. It's time to credit TIF's when credits due. Women are responsible for this erasure.

I'm afraid we are going to have to agree to disagree on that 1 as its always the men I see pushing this crap

There’s a very good programme about endometriosis on R4 at the moment.
What’s Up Docs, 4:30pm Tuesday 24 February.

The’ve mentioned the lack of research into medical conditions which involve only females, and the lack of education in schools about what’s normal during periods and what isn’t.

It’s moved to possible causes and symptoms of endometriosis now.

Strong recommend.

Arran2024 · 24/02/2026 17:35

My daughter is 28. She has a moderate learning disability. She needs clear information - none of this "those with a uterus" stuff. The NHS used to focus on making language clear for the intellectually impaired, people with limited English etc. Now it's dumped that, with zero impact assessment. For tem and trans activists, it's more important to make trans people feel comfortable.

Btw I believe that they focus on making women's health info trans friendly because women are not taken seriously. Men won't stand for their prostate info being made trans friendly.

So tired of this utter nonsense! Women and girls experience this condition and only women and girls.

hholiday · 24/02/2026 18:47

I have it. It has caused me debilitating pain down the years as well as extremely intrusive examinations at the hands of male doctors prior to surgery (the surgeon himself was excellent and changed my life). I feel totally dehumanised by language like ‘person born with a uterus’. It brings back memories of being poked and prodded by those male a &e doctors, trying to persuade me I needed my appendix out because they seemingly had zero awareness of ‘women’s problems’. I am not a compilation of body parts – I am a woman. And a failure to associate intense abdominal pain with this condition only women can have is part of the reason so many of us get misdiagnosed every year - as well as being offensive, it’s dangerous.

No its not though. They're just the excuse. There's always an excuse. They ( and butch lesbisns) aren't the reason we should let actual men (in lipstick and high heels) into women's spaces either. But they ARE being used as the excuse.
