Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

It's never ending with this SuperCouncil, (because no way are they a government).

If the coppers won't stick up for us, maybe they'll stick up for themselves, and use this as the excuse every time.

"...if the operational risk is deemed too great, the search will be conducted by a constable of the same sex as the detainee."

Although given how misogynistic the service is, I can see all the male coppers taking great delight in trying to force their female colleagues to search any gender confused men they arrest. 🤬

Oh FFS. 🤦‍♀️

HildegardP · 10/02/2026 21:46

Confusion about the law, feigned or otherwise, is never a good look for coppers.

Named changed for this.

Strip searches are mainly carried out by custody staff, in custody with cops present (but not all the time), unless for a drugs search at the locus. A gender confused man can asked to be searched by a female but the female staff/cop can rightly refuse with no further questions asked or any action taken. The downside of this is they can then refuse a
strip search (everyone has this right) and would then be placed on ‘constant observation’ whilst in custody which takes up two cops off the street when they could be used for better things,
and folk complain there’s never any cops.

I can only speak to own experience but my male colleagues would never take any delight in trying to force me to complete a search on a man, standard or strip. They wouldn’t dare! I’ve made my feelings known in this area. Can’t speak to other areas of the force though! There’s arseholes in every profession.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 11/02/2026 06:21

Good to know your male colleagues won't try messing with you, whether out of respect or because you put the fear of god into them 😁, whatever works. Yes this stupidity from on high will have an impact on the streets, so another own goal by our leaders. 😠

Good to hear that Potnoodle, but I worry that some women will find it difficult to refuse what feels like an order from a senior officer - and some senior officers won’t like women saying no. Just get everyone searched by officers of the same sex.

Yeah I agree, especially with young, new recruits. I’ve been all over the gender nonsense for a while but when I hear of female officers searching a trans woman as per their request (and he’s happened), I wonder if they are ‘allies’ or if they know they can refuse. This was prior to the SC ruling mind you.

Edited

There's prison officers who didn't know and some who were told they couldn't refuse to and others who were pressurised to change their no into a yes.
My fear particularly with police Scotland and the people leading it, is that with this new set of guidelines it will be seen as a green light to enforce pandering to these men and bully female officers into strip searching them
