This often comes up on threads. So not sure if it is the most accurate but here is one report on the number of trans people murdered in 2025.

Brazil had the highest number of trans people murdered in 2024; however, this year, the country reported 34% less murders, down from 122.

Globally, there were 281 reports of murders of trans and gender-diverse people in 2025, 90% of the victims were trans women and 88% of trans people murdered last year were Black or Brown.

68% of murders of trans people took place in Latin America and the Caribbean. Europe saw five murders while the US reported 31, down from 2024’s figure of 41.

In fact it is these desperate misrepresentation that are disrespectful, changing the words round to say someone trans gender was murdered is not the same as the those saying someone was murdered because they were transgender.

It is gross of you to drag this young person into a thread about an article reporting on recorded instances.

The only person undermined is you for being so crass, and in fact those who genuinely want to create actual facts to say that someone who was trans was murdered because they were trans.

Dont you understand just how undignified this is, and horribly exploitative of a murder victim.

No, I completely disagree, my posts are neither crass nor gross. It is a very serious topic and shying away from talking about barbarities that have occurred is quite honestly, shameful and rather telling in that you are limited in what you want to read and hear.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2026 03:02

No one said there haven’t been any trans murders in the U.K ever, you failed to read the post properly. BG is irrelevant to a discussion of trans murders last year.

I’ll apologise for being 18 months out, I’d argue BG is “relevant” even if not within the 2025 title. Shameful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2026 03:22

Whats shameful? This isn’t about the UK. It’s about Brazil last year. Someone pointed out that there were no trans murders in the U.K. last year. There weren’t. You decided to irrelevantly drag in BG.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2026 03:24

A murder two years ago is irrelevant to a discussion of murders last year. I’m not sure what point you imagine you’re making.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2026 03:26

IndigoBluey · 07/02/2026 02:52

regardless of the fact they did not murder their first intended victim, they did murder BG. like I said, 2 years almost to this day, it was 11 February 2023. Semantics really talking about 24 months difference but clutch on to what you will. A transgender was murdered, it is really very clear.

Also, that’s actually 3 years ago.

IndigoBluey · 07/02/2026 02:02

@HoardasurassBrianna Ghey was murdered, spookily almost two years to this day

So not in 2025 then. Also, calling someone ‘a transgender’ is ignorant. Brianna was a teenager suffering from gender confusion, murdered by deeply disturbed friends.

Rightsraptor · 07/02/2026 07:53

Of course a murder that was committed in 2023 is irrelevant when discussing murders committed in 2025. Nobody is saying BG personally was irrelevant, just that that particular killing is statistically irrelevant to those that happened two years later. IndigoBluey can surely see that?

While I appreciate OP is referring to a specific document about murder rates, let's not see murder where the bar is set. We all know life-altering attacks stopping short of killing can be devastating, too. All is not rosy in the garden just because we've survived another day, for any of us.

AMansAManForAllThat · 07/02/2026 08:07

BG was murdered 3 years ago. Brianna was not targeted for being trans. Referring to Brianna as ‘a transgender’ is very othering and objectifying. Brianna’s murder doesn’t contribute to a conversation about murder rate falling in Brazil last year.

I’m not great at reading stats, so am I right- the stats in Brazil seem to reflect sex workers, particularly those of colour, being vulnerable. Some of them were also trans. Being trans didn’t increase their risk.

Another article suggested that murder rates of all kinds are falling in the uk too, apart from murders of women. It’s reassuring that it’s going down overall, as you’d not guess that from the headlines. Disappointing that women are as vulnerable as ever.

RedToothBrush · 06/02/2026 22:26

So Trans Day of Remembrance is relevant to Corporate Britain and Teenagers in School, Colleges and Universities in exactly which way?

I’m very tempted to attend my employers Trans Day of Remembrance event and innocently ask the organisers to “read out all the names of poor, vulnerable trans people who were murdered in the UK in 2025 so we can remember them individually.”

Sounds like that list would be a blank piece of paper.

RedToothBrush · 07/02/2026 08:48

IwantToRetire · 07/02/2026 01:53

Again from AI which seemed very reluctant to provide stats about murder of prostitutes in Brazil and only wanted to talk about trans. (Not that I think AI has a prejudice but it reflects what it finds post on the internet. ie all the TRAs posting lots and lots of posts about murder of trans prostitutes.

Anyhow, without being able to quite work this out:

Approx: 12.8% of femicides are sex workers

Between 3,700 and 3,900 female homices annually (approximately 1,400 of which are officially classified as femicides)

Well I cant make those sums add up.

I searched "number of murders in Brazil in 2025".

The AI response was "the number of trans murders..."

I was like wtf my search wasn't even about trans and that's the response you have given?

Total bullshit.

Yes but that was 2024 we are talking about murders in 2025 so my statement is correct zero trans murders in the uk.
However I can think of atleast 2 murders committed by transwomen in the UK last year.

Hoardasurass · 07/02/2026 09:06

IndigoBluey · 07/02/2026 02:23

@IwantToRetirecan you elaborate? Who, in your opinion were the first choice of culprits?

my response was in answer to @Hoardasurassif you read below, this person is unaware of any trans murders in the uk. Suggest you question yourself about disrespecting the dead.

I am aware of 9 maybe 10 murders of trans identifying people in the UK since records began. None of them were in Scotland ever. Also we are talking about the 2025 murder rate which is ZERO for the UK hence why you had to bring up a boy who was murdered by your own admission in 2024. If you have to go back to a different years data and start name dropping a child to prove your point you've already lost the argument.
Transwomen are the safest demographic in the UK however they are the most likely to commit a sexual offence. So please tell me why they are classed as the most vulnerable?

Hoardasurass · 07/02/2026 09:13

Sorry typo in both of my last posts BG died in 2023 not 2024
Edited because of my father thums hitting the wrong number again

Mmmnotsure · 07/02/2026 09:16

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2026 02:29

There were indeed zero trans murders in the U.K. in 2025, @IndigoBluey- BG was the year before. They are very rare. Most years there isn’t one. There have been about 3 or 4 in the last decade, IIRC. A murder victim in the U.K. was at one point (and may still be the case statistically) more likely to have been murdered by a “trans woman” than be one.

Edited

There has been a lot of information this week from the Toshack v GEOAmey and the FWS v Scottish Ministers cases.

It appears that at least three men who identify as women and have been convicted of murder, are being held in the female estate in Scotland. (The number of females in prisons in Scotland is around 350.) There are also trans identifying men held in the male estate.

MurrayBlackburnMackenzie have produced a comprehensive summary of the situation:

You keep referring to one tragic incident, whereas the discussion is more about statistics in general.
Every murder of any human being is a tragedy for them and their loved ones.
RIP to all of them.

But discussion about motivation of murders, and the identity of the victims, has to look beyond the tragic cases of individual victims, and take a broader look at patterns.

Looking at this broad level, the murder of a transgender person in Europe is so extremely rare that it seems unfair and even cruel to keep the trans community in a false state of fear of 'literal violence' or even 'literal genocide' .

It makes me wonder about why certain people keep cranking up the fear unnecessarily in this way - maybe it helps bolster the 'most marginalised' claim.

So your accusation that other posters are 'limited in what you want to read and hear is obviously wrong, when what has been posted is much broader in scope than the single, awful, tragic murder that you focus on.

RedToothBrush · 06/02/2026 22:45

38,772 murders in Brazil in 2024. Apparently it's slightly down in 2025.

So roughly 0.002 % of murders in Brazil are transwomen.

0.2%

RedToothBrush · 07/02/2026 11:17

hallouminatus · 07/02/2026 11:15

0.2%

Probably. I spent ages trying to work it out.

nauticant · 07/02/2026 11:24

It's sad how some allies of the trans community seem to be exercised in making that community in places like the UK fear that they're facing an elevated risk of murder.

I can't think this is helpful to the mental health of those in that community.

I agree. Keeping trans people in a constant state of hypervigilance about something that is very unlikely to happen can't be good for their emotional and mental well-being. Especially young people who are at a vulnerable stage in their emotional development.

It is, however, very good for producing groundless claims about 'literal genocide' which can be used to 'justify' violent acts against property and against women.

The more I think about it, the more things like 'days of remembrance' etc appear to be part of a cynical plan to stir up irrational fear which is not backed up by statistics.

AreYouSureAskedNaomi · 07/02/2026 12:21

88% of trans people murdered last year were Black or Brown
Bloody hell Sad

nauticant · 07/02/2026 12:22

One can get the impression that some trans allies don't view trans people so much as people as more a resource to be exploited for ideological ends. They also do the same with women.

It's not very kind is it?

Shitpostingly spookily obviously not very kind when the basic facts widely reported during the trial are a simple google away.

Considering that there is no UK Women's Day of Remembrance, it would seem rather strange to ignore the 155 women who were murdered in England and Wales in the year ending March 2025.
Just saying this as a bloke.

YouAndMeDays · 07/02/2026 12:40

Tragic as BG's murder was, do you know why it's always brought up by certain people? Because there aren't any other instances in the UK to discuss.
