Compared to glowing write up of her career, this is a summary by AI of the public / online perception:

Sandy Brindley, Chief Executive of
Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS), has faced significant criticism primarily regarding her leadership during a period of controversy at the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC).
Key criticisms include:

  • Handling of ERCC Failings: Brindley has been criticised for not intervening sooner after an independent review found "catastrophic failings" at the Edinburgh centre under its former CEO, Mridul Wadhwa, a trans woman. The review found the centre failed to provide women-only spaces for 16 months and did not prioritise survivors' needs.
  • Support for Mridul Wadhwa: Critics, including For Women Scotland and author JK Rowling, have attacked Brindley for her past vocal support of Wadhwa—whom she once called a "warrior for women's rights"—despite concerns raised about the centre's trans-inclusive policies.
  • Response to Survivors: She was accused of "weaponising" survivors by reportedly offering the phone numbers of victims who supported her to a newspaper in an attempt to defend her position amidst calls for her resignation. Rowling described this as using survivors as "human shields" for a self-inflicted PR problem.
  • Knowledge of Issues: While Brindley claimed she only became aware of problems at ERCC in October 2023, campaigners and media reports suggest survivors and staff had been trying to raise concerns with her since as early as 2019.
  • Policy Positions: Brindley has been criticised by gender-critical groups for backing the Scottish government's self-ID gender reforms and for her stance that there is "no inherent reason" why transgender people cannot work in rape support centres, provided single-sex spaces are also maintained.
Following these controversies, groups like Sex Matters and several MSPs have called for her immediate resignation or dismissal. Brindley has apologised unreservedly for the failings but has stated she will not resign, citing the ongoing work needed to support survivors.

She is a disgusting absolute piece of shite, good riddance.

I hope that was controlled enough

silverwrath · 30/01/2026 20:46

She should have been long gone before now.

Better late than never I guess.

guinnessguzzler · 30/01/2026 21:03

Will be interesting to see who takes it on.

NewGirlInTown · 30/01/2026 21:42

Good. Should have been sacked years ago. I hope the next appointee is a woman, knows what a woman is, and is fucking competent at understanding the reason for the organisation existing.

Hoardasurass · 30/01/2026 21:54

I wonder what government funded role she'll move into, no doubt whatever role it is she'll just keep on undermining womens sex based rights for woke cookies

teawamutu · 30/01/2026 22:05

About fucking time.

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 30/01/2026 22:08

Good

SirChenjins · 30/01/2026 22:10

Excellent news- but no doubt she'll pop up in some other influential role to continue in her quest to trample women into the ground.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 30/01/2026 22:12

Good fucking riddance. Awful woman.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 30/01/2026 22:14

“She has worked tirelessly to raise awareness, challenge public attitudes around rape and sexual violence, and ensure that the needs and concerns of survivors are respected “

Has she FUCK.

SirChenjins · 30/01/2026 23:29

Oh to be fair, she has - the needs and concerns of the teeny, tiny number of trans identifying males who have been sexually assaulted and raped have absolutely respected by her over the needs and concerns of every woman.

Nothatisall · 30/01/2026 23:35

She shouldn’t be allowed to step down, she should have been fired. She is a traitor to women.

I suspect your are right.

Just how soon will it be?

This is a happy occasion, cheers.

Not as happy as when Mridul Wadhwa was forced to finally fuck off, but still.

But what I love most about all of this / our current times is that males (esp. male politicians who run the show) seem to have no idea how fed up women (not including the male-centering handmaidens here) have become. It bodes well.

RedToothBrush · 31/01/2026 01:34

Hmm. Did someone push her? Or is she collecting the pension now before the gigs up and people ask more questions?

RavelsDancer · 31/01/2026 01:36

Noooooooo, she would never undermine real women's rights (You know the "suicidal" "vulnerable" ones? Who are not pornsick at all? Who were born that way? With Adam's apples?), just because she's a worthless male-centering woke handmaiden cunt* who has never experienced rape in her cushy life.

She'll just keep on undermining the old stupid kind of Bleeder, Breeder, Chestfeeder.

Not the Stunning and Brave ones, good Lord.

*Let me edit this because I forgot to add "pick-me", and cunt needs to be spelled CUNT in this case.

Right after the election if the snp, greens, Labour or the lib dems get in

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/01/2026 01:44

Vile woman. Good riddance.

IwantToRetire · 31/01/2026 02:25

I know I didn't bother to post the actual statement in the OP but if you read it, it is clear they are sticking to their view of the world.

Probably stagemanaged so that it wouldn't look like she had resigned because of the problems she had caused and / or had another job lined up.

They have appointed a temporary Director Alev Taylor.

According to Companies House she becomes one of the Directors of RC Scotland last August https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/r6CAxi39Mha_OO1Ocx-pOUnHg_o/appointments

I really don't like the practice of bringing someone into employment from the Board. I don't think it works well for accountability, especially given she is also currently still listed as a Director as well as now being Interim CEO.
