Strange, that.
What I also find strange and absolutely dislocating about the modern age is the memory holing of stories, sometimes literally within 24 hours of them happening/being reported.
The most dramatic example being the two DSD male boxers allowed to fight in the female category at the Paris Olympics, the furore at the time, the radio silence since.
An absolute avalanche of liberal opinion making, activist social media, and elites received opinion referring to Khelif and the other male as female boxers, two female boxers skillfully fighting slightly less skilled female boxers to double Gold.
We were told how Khelif would sue the slanderers, TERF witch-in-chief JK Rowling at the head of the queue.
And then when the IOC finally folded to Trump's declaration that the LA Olympics female events would be male-free, Khelif ready to make history again as a brave female boxer, he refuses to take the simple cheek swab DNA test that would prove...he was indeed a male.
No swab, no Khelif at the Olympics.
Look, we all know the truth, and more critically, the score.
The TRA establishment wanted again to rub women's noses in it.
Yet where are any voices from that side to even start to set the record straight? None.
As if it never happened. Despite being on our TVs and social media feeds 24/7.
And now we have the SC ruling. We all know it's there, and so do the naysayers. So does the Labour govt. But like someone looking at a final payment bill, fine or tax demand, and thinking if they don't open the envelope, they don't have to.sign the cheque, again elites received wisdom is trying to pretend the SC ruling never happened, or they can wish it away.
Just like trying to wish away those boxers being male.
In some ways, I find this the most troubling existential aspect of the trans debate. That even when the truth is laid out in literal and unambiguous and unavoidable terms, it's fought against, and just as easily ignored and not recalled.
Not only are those in charge of society unable to tell the truth, they also forget they ever lied about it.

There's a lot of magical thinking going on in the leftie establishment, which can't cope with reality

They know perfectly well what the reality is.

They just dont think women should have the right to be right.

And in this case are so sure that what they think is correct, they are basically saying effo off to the Supreme Court.

And they think, and deep down know, that in the end the patriarchy will prevail.

They aren't embarrassed, no one is pointng the finger at them.

They just have to wait it out.

UtopiaPlanitia · 12/01/2026 02:53

I'm glad the event is being held but I'm depressed that it needs to be held. It frustrates and angers me that women are always having to beg for governments to recognise their specific needs.

porridgecake · 12/01/2026 03:02

Can I draw your attention to the latest petition on the petitions board. Please have a look.

But the left reality deniers are 50% women, maybe the majority . So 50% at least of women in left politics don't care about women?

1984Now · 12/01/2026 11:25

Igneococcus · 12/01/2026 06:49

Just putting this here as well, I posted it over in the SNP thread.
Alex Massie always worth reading:
https://www.thetimes.com/article/b5b3af5c-525a-4117-84fc-f8cf0efd920c?shareToken=042230dd95712c51bd6ad5e8119101bb

Sure, but 30% of Scots will vote SNP with the "let men into women's prisons" ethos, and as many as 10-15% for Scottish Greens with the "there are men and women, trans men and trans women, and rapists as genders" ethos.
That's 40-45% of Scottish voters who at worst have totally lost it, at best don't really care about women's rights.
How many of that 40-45% are women voters? Likely over half.
Maybe close to 50% of all women voters are not considering women's rights.

I don't think it is that 50% of women don't care about women. I think it's that oit of all the dire choices, many women - myself included - make the choice to vote for eg Labour as the least bad when compared to Reform, Tories, Greens, Lib Dem.

On this one issue Labour are prob 4th best on that list, but on other issues Labour are one of the top ones.

I'm not here to tell anyone how to balance things up, but it is emphatically not that the majority of women don't care.

The SNP and Scottish Greens poll 50% between them. That's an awful lot of women who must know these parties are the implacable enemy of women, yet still choose to lend them their votes.
Sorry, but parties that can't define women can in no way have policies that can champion them.
Men cosplaying at being women, well, I can perfectly see why they'd vote for this shower.
But, they amount to 3% max, what about the rest?

It is late at night and I really should be devoting my time to other things but you are starting to seriously annoy me. You are a right of centre, Reform adjacent man who is exploiting women's GC views to wedge us in your direction. We have many things to consider when we step into the ballot box. Education, Health provision for our children, us and our family, childcare,... The list goes on and on.

Who the fuck are you to mansplain all over multiple threads where women are working out what is in the best interests of them and their families?

You give me way to much credit if you think I have the power to wedge anything.
Why don't you try and argue with me rather than vent against me?
Male, GC, Reform, is a problem on this site?

I'm GC. But that doesn't mean I'd lose myself to right wing extremist ideology.

I'm certainly not wasting breath on a male Reform supporter. 🤢

Interesting, since I'm not a member, supporter, or planning to vote Reform.
But feel free to project.
And last thing I looked, 20% of Mumsnetters ARE Reform supporters, you not engaging with them either?
Ah, they're not male, so that's ok then.

Lots of cope in the posts.
"Three soggy old ladies going into Wetherspoons for a cuppa"
Well, if it's raining, and it's unlimited refills to get your core temperature up.
I know one thing, these TRAs are pissed off inside.

I'd be more likely to go into Spoons for a pint than a cuppa 😆

One of them says:

Mumsnetters are trying to organise it from what I can tell, if true that's fucking hilarious 😂😂

He should look up how For Women Scotland began... 😉

Gaslighting is the new black in politics. You just stare the voter in the face and deny reality. And hope they're too gobsmacked to (yet) know how to deal with you.

See: Trump. 'that video you're watching doesn't show what your eyes tell you it does'.

This entire lot HAVE to go. All of them. The whole ruddy lot. The well is contaminated beyond ever being retrievable.

Their misogyny always shines out.

And the ageism. Same as the "Mothers of trans children" thread. Labelling women "biddies" while at the same time warning each other to "take extra caution if you are in Brighton that day".

I mean WTF.

Women aren't the ones with baseball bats, offensive signs, loudspeakers, drums, petrol, bricks or crickets.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 27/01/2026 17:19

Wall to wall batshit, the double standards are always interesting to see.

There was a wailing and rending of garments on a thread about how Sex Matters are evilly keeping lists of male athletes invading and competing in women's sports.... when TQ activists have been keeping spreadsheets and gathering data and doxxing for years.

As usual, it's nothing to do with the action itself being wrong, only it being weaponised by the wrong people. It's basically fury with the mouse for not salting itself and lying down to be co operative for the cat to eat it.

And the ageist misogyny towards women.... so so much of this stuff screams 'mummy issues'.

MarieDeGournay · 27/01/2026 19:12

'Biddy' as an insult has an interesting history - - it comes from the Irish name Brigid, Biddy being the associated pet name, and was a derogatory term for a female servant, many of whom, in both the UK and US, were Irish migrant women.
So it's a bit of an omnislur, against Irish women, working class women, and now older women.
Xenophobia, classism and ageism as well as misogyny in one word!
