Leader of Green group claims party ban because of her gender critical views

The leader of the Green group on Herefordshire Council has claimed she has been banned from her own party for her views on gender.
In a statement released on Friday, Councillor Diana Toynbee said she had been barred from serving as a Green councillor "for at least six months".

In an X post sent on 25 November, Toynbee said there was "nothing right wing about child safeguarding and respecting women" and "nothing more anti-feminist than saying a woman is no more than a costume, identity or fantasy".

In her statement, addressing the ban, she said: "The central party establishment has ruled that I must be punished for my views on gender and safeguarding, and this is the painful culmination of years of intimidation."

She will now join the Independents for Herefordshire (i4H) group on the council, "with whom I share values of freedom of expression and independent-mindedness", she added.

Toynbee said she had been "touched by the huge amount of support I receive from people from all backgrounds and views, who want politicians with minds of their own who don't pretend to believe things they don't believe".

Another woman shafted by those misogynists in the Green Party, who would rather sacrifice allies in the fight for the environment in favour of their higher priority of promoting men’s rights at the expense of women and children. But well done Councillor Toynbee. Very clear messaging here.

As a quiet Terf (captured family members) I am in awe of women who aren't afraid to say what they believe despite the personal, social and political consequences.Well done Diana Toynbee.

Well done Diana.

Well done Diana (and 😮 at the BBC. Now let’s see some detransitioners)

Still waiting for Zak to be properly challenged on this issue rather than the fawning interviews we've had to date (piers Morgan excepted who did)

ZPs crazy position being totally against women's sport, and pro putting male rapists in prisons is at the extreme end of trans stuff. Potential for huge train wreck interviews on that in the future. Especially as the public is getting less supportive over time .

What I have found increasingly depressing is that despite some high court wins for sex based rights, and examples of TRAs trying to bully instituion, and even well known comdey writers, the public at large just does not even remember about the attack on women's rights.

I have seen lots of posts on various social media platforms where people are moaning about never being able to vote Labour again.

Many posts saying Greens look like a good option.

And never once, in raising potential doubts about the Green does the issue of women's rights come up. So nothing to do with being TRA or being kind.

Women's rights does no impinge on their consciousness.

Women are still non people.

Women are still not thought to have the same right to rights as other groups.

What does that say about the state of the UK today.

We have been invisibilised.

You are walking towards my view of all left of centre UK polical parties. All of them will tell us that our issues are very important and will be addressed but are secondary to much bigger issues and, in the meantime , could you put the kettle on.

I have decided to leave the men to it. I would love to find a woman-centred left wing party, but in the meantime, I just refuse to support blokely blokes

Agree with that, @IwantToRetire . I see loads of posts saying, I can't vote Labour, but this Polanski guys seems OK... and you can't help but think, have they been paying any attention at all, read his speeches, even followed his SM?

But in a better world, this shouldn't be happening. If we get to a point where women feel they have to circle the wagons, it shows the damage the gender movement has done to society as a whole (although obviously women bear the brunt of it).
