Good on this woman for achieving her dreams. I am astonished that the BBC didn't LGBTQ+ her, as they seem to do with lesbians these days.

I've never understood the competition, when I was young it was on the telly and a load of men in suits looking at young women in swim suits seemed really weird to me. But she entered of her own free will and is over the moon, so that's great and I'm happy she's happy.
I'm guessing the lack of pigeon hole is because it's a regional article.

They haven't used the word 'lesbian' once.

They haven't used the word 'lesbian' once.

Still, at least they’ve not used ‘queer’ or alphabet soup.

I honestly don’t care if she’s a lesbian, I just hate the fact that competitions like this still exist, which place women in a hierarchy according to their looks (with a few other bits and pieces chucked in to take the bad look off it.) Basically it’s the Lovely Girls Competition.

It's a shame her sexuality is mentioned at all, when it's irrelevant to the competition criteria to win.

I remember Miss UK,world etc from the 70s and at the time essential family viewing for many.
Glad times have changed slightly but in saying that women are still judged on looks for their worth.
