This is probably a silly question, but has WH made any reference to the Prescott report?
I rarely listen, because it occupies the nexus between boring me and being dull, but I was wondering.

Why do you care then if you don’t listen?

Sausagenbacon · 21/11/2025 08:23

Because i'm interested. Is that OK?

I listened avidly for years. I'd love the programme to return to its former glory. Many of us are waiting for signs that it will and we can resume tuning in.

Everlore · 21/11/2025 10:02

I have listened for years and always enjoyed it but, in my opinion, it was at its best when Emma Barnett was at the helm. She brought much-needed political accumen and tenacity when interviewing slippery politicians and spokespeople who I often got the feeling had turned up expecting an easy ride because it was WH and ended up being put on the back foot!
I love the human interest and lifestyle items on WH but I think it is vital that it also takes a robust approach to holding politicians and law makers to account at a time when women's rights are under threat globally.
I suppose it was only a matter of time before Today poached Emma, but I do think it was a shame.

Women's hour and lose Women are boring to me.

Gosh that's fascinating, do elaborate

ProfessorScorchedTerf · 21/11/2025 10:08

I'd be very interested in knowing if women's hour actually started to address women's rights. I stopped listening some time ago as I couldn't bear the avoidance of interviewing stand out women's activists. They should talk about the inaction surrounding the Supreme Court ruling and Prescott . If I read in here they've woken up to the situation I might start listening again , I used to live thd mix of politics and cookery. A bit like mumsnet is

TransMother · 21/11/2025 10:12

Sorry OP, can't answer your question because I also rarely listen to WH nowadays. I would definitely tune in again, once they acknowledge the harm that gender ideology creates for women and children, once they acknowledge that sex is never changeable. Y'know, once they return to the aim of highlighting women's issues as per their title.

I just find them both boring.
Lose women was the worst I don't know what it's like now.

Greyskybluesky · 21/11/2025 10:23

I agree @ProfessorScorchedTerf @TransMother @BlueJuniper94 @Everlore

I hadn't realised quite how long it was since I last listened to WH until someone mentioned Jenni Murray on another thread recently. I have vivid memories of listening to her during her last days on WH while I was painting walls.

Some of the presenters have been irritating, too deferential, and that was another thing that put me off.

I 100% agree with pp on this: I love the human interest and lifestyle items on WH but I think it is vital that it also takes a robust approach to holding politicians and law makers to account at a time when women's rights are under threat globally.

Yes, I had to stop listening when they went anti women and started breathlessly fawning over and platforming horrible men claiming they were women.

I’d be delighted to listen if they rejoined the real world of women.

bigboykitty · 21/11/2025 12:40

Yes also stopped listening!

KilliMonjaro · 21/11/2025 16:16

So this is a thread about women who don’t listen to WH asking what they are talking about on WH. Bizarre.
I’m sure you can look up on the app to see if they have addressed the issue.

To quote you: why do you care?

There are a million other threads you could have commented on and you chose this one. Just let people have their conversation about it.

BG2015 · 21/11/2025 16:33

I'm listening to WH on podcast when I wake up at 3am. I started about 8 months ago I started at 2013. Now on 2015 and they are talking about the general election.

It's fascinating listening to it from 13 years or so ago. The presenters are Jane Garvey ( who I love) and Jenni Murray. They are talking about things that are still an issue today after all this time - gender pay gap, child grooming gangs, teachers being managed out of the profession once they get to their 50's.

I must admit some of it is so dull but lots I find interesting. Some of it I find I've missed as I've fallen back asleep 😂

Greyskybluesky · 21/11/2025 16:36

That's really interesting @BG2015 Like going back in time!
Bit depressing to hear all the problems that still haven't been addressed though!

ThatsNeat · 21/11/2025 17:20

I don't think so, but haven't listened regularly so can't be 100% sure. Also no mention of BFF vs Morrison, or the Leonardo case, and scant coverage of the Peggie case. It really shouldn't be called Womans Hour anymore.

IBorAlevels · 23/11/2025 09:18

I listen still. They have touched on it and said about Davie leaving, but nothing directly about the trans accusations, more about the Trump suing. That seems to be what everyone is going with over the rest of the stuff we are having to swallow.

2 stories on a drag queen not being in Strictly on the front of the app. Women dying all over the world...not a mention.

ETA If it wasn't for Woman's Hour I actually think I would miss a lot of the world events going on with women - them and WATO are the reliable ones that don't include TV junk as "news". Woman's Hour did have a man on talking about something I turned off for a long time the other day though - mental health of fathers or something. I do often find myself wondering why they've chosen the one slot we get as women to discuss men in so much detail.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear this, I can find Helen Lewis underwhelming on this subject - get the feeling her opinions are more GC than she's prepared to publicly admit - so I really didn't expect it. Especially following Katherine Grainger's nomination, a real change of tone in the conversation from Helen.

fabricstash · 01/01/2026 12:01

🍸thank you Helen Lewis! I think she is important person moving forwards the discussions as she has impact and respect in journalism in Uk and USA . Everyone seems wants feminists to think/say the same but they do not and nor should they
