Of course she is, off she tootles with her massive pension, leaving the shit storm she helmed to deal with the consequences of her failed leadership.

Classic UK state sector 2025 innit? See the BBC for further details. 🙄

Sid9nie · 17/11/2025 19:07

She can't stay though. They have a new director of finance already. I would expect the whole senior team to change in less than a year.

Supporterofwomensrights · 17/11/2025 19:11

And she lived happily ever after.

HermioneWeasley · 17/11/2025 19:18

She’s probably had a big pay off and is off to enjoy her publicly funded pension. No real accountability

LizzieSiddal · 17/11/2025 19:21

Maddening. These people are never brought to account are they? She’ll just retire on her big fat pension which we all pay for.

Namechangeforthis88 · 17/11/2025 19:48

While her judgement might have been out on this, I can believe she has achieved a lot for NHS Scotland in her career, I doubt she's delighted for it to end this way.

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 17/11/2025 19:49

I'm absolutely shocked by this, shocked I tell you...

NumberTheory · 17/11/2025 21:33

I share everyone else's shock!

I do think it's interesting that the BBC have covered it, and focused on the tribunal. I can't help wondering if this is down to the bias scandal and a loosening of the tight controls on covering women's rights that have hampered fair coverage ovr the last decade.

It’s interesting to see them using more balanced language - “both sides of the transgender debate” - with no levering in of (trans) ‘rights.’

As for Carol Potter; whilst I’m sure she’s achieved something of note in her long career, she’s being allowed to leave on her own terms. I’ve absolutely no doubt she’ll be given a nice little parachute to further ease her into retirement.

Certainly not what your average NHS nurse on the coal face could ever expect, should he or she come under similar levels of criticism.

RedToothBrush · 17/11/2025 22:18

Gosh. The timing is purely coincidental. Honest gov.

GallantKumquat · 18/11/2025 00:44

As with the Davie resignation, it's good to see someone being accountable (held to account) for systematic failure. Arguably it should have come sooner given the shear incompetence that was on display but better late than never - and there may have been reasons that we're not privy to as why it might have been inadvisable to do before now, even if all parties (board and Potter) agreed that it was the best course of action.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 18/11/2025 06:11

She'll be back as an overpaid 'consultant' of some sort, this nothing more than a gesture 😞

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 18/11/2025 09:32

A week of people trotting off on helpful excuses which just coincidentally avoids any accountability.
