Now that the BBC has been forced to accept their bias and everyone seems to be u-turning, on both gender and the Isreal/Palestine war, how can the Guardian continue to employ and therefore support the views of Owen Jones?

That may be my next name-change name - OwenJonesesSupportRodent.

Replacing JaneRussellsGetawayHorse, which I never got round to using anyway.

I agree with this actually, he is suffering from a mental derangement I feel.

He is quite an extreme example but he's far from alone, unfortunately. They must have utterly miserable lives, stewing away constantly in their own hate and bile while the rest of us just get on with our lives.

Agree.

It's definitely a problem with certain sections of the gay community. They see the trans fight as a continuation of their own fight back in the day, when the truth is it is not even in the same ballpark and they are very, very wrong. Keep a close eye on Zack Polanski for the same reason.

worrisomeasset · 16/11/2025 12:43

I think whoever came up the Talcum X nickname for OJ deserves some kind of award.

That's not fair. He can also be easily identified as 'YouTuber Owen Jones', as per that Douglas Murray article a few years ago.

The man in that photo is so handsome.

I've always assumed it's a compliment of some sort.

Douglas Murray? I have to confess to finding him incredibly sexy, I don’t know whether it’s his looks, his posh voice or his public speaking.

I am however aware he is gay 🤣

I'll revise...

BOTH men whose photos are in that article are so handsome.

Douglas Murray is very phwoar though!

It might be a particular thing with gay men who are just about old enough to remember their community having to fight for equality, but not old enough to have participated.

And then there are some gay men who are just misogynistic twerps.

I think it was the wonderful Julie Bindel.

I cannot imagine how anyone could interpret calling him Talcum X to be anything other than a piss-take.

He writes regular columns for the Graun. I'm sure the paper pays him for them.

He's also a contributor for The National, an appallingly shite, poorly selling, SNP mouth piece of a newspaper here in Scotland, who did that smug, head tilty video about the National Library of Scotland and the book 'The Women Who Wouldn't Wheesht' about which they were proven completely incorrect.

LOJ is earning bags of cash with a huge following, so I guess his petulance and limited brain cells are a big plus for progressives. Must admit, I can never resist an LOJ thread😁

YourAmplePlumPoster · 17/11/2025 08:46

It's a mystery why they still continue to give column space to Woeful Williams too.

AMansAManForAllThat · 17/11/2025 08:58

I’m disappointed. I was hoping for a Whittle style ‘Of course Oceania is at war with Eurasia. Always has been. Whoever said any different?’.

drspouse · 17/11/2025 09:09

I always like to bring this one out on such occasions.

There are a bunch of gay male journalists/activists who have pivoted 100% to Gaza. I am sure Freud would have something to say about it.

I think it was the wonderful Julie Bindel.

I think Talcum X was originally coined for an American activist called Shaun King, who claimed black status for himself while not actually being black. It works less well for Little OJ who, whatever his failings, has never claimed to be black.

Not sure who used it first either - I remember Lucy Masoud referring to LOJ as Talcum X but i don't know if that predates or postdates Julie Bindel using it.

worrisomeasset · 17/11/2025 10:18

I am disappointed to find that the internet confirms that the Talcum X soubriquet was first applied to controversial US activist Shaun King (who I’d never heard of before) and not OJ. I now know that King was criticised for claiming to be black when he has two white people named as his parents on his birth certificate. He now claims that his actual biological father (not named on the birth certificate) was black.
