Reviving this thread as the new CEO this morning 'does not want to talk about the past'. Not fit to hold the post if that is the response.

Yep - heard her on Radio 4 this morning- it was embarrassing- it could have been a skit from The Thick of It - BUT this is about safety of children and young people - to not address it properly is shameful

A clip of this has just turned up on my news feed.

Your would think a company as big as McDonald's would have worked out a more empathitic position that this.

How sad she would think this okay.

But worse for those who did suffer.

McDonald's boss on abuse claims: 'I don't want to talk about the past'

A BBC investigation in 2023 heard from more than 100 McDonald's workers in the UK claiming they faced sexual assault, harassment, racism, and bullying

How very disappointing- another woman with power who wants to dismiss women’s suffering caused by the organisation she now heads. She doesn’t have to take responsibility for it (obviously) but surely she could facilitate some work to address it and stop it continuing?

She’s made the mistake of thinking she can make this go away by ignoring it. I don’t think it’s going to go away and will just become a stain on her reputation as well.

Equality and Human Rights Commission chair Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson, told the BBC its legal agreement to continue monitoring McDonald’s had been extended in November “because of further issues that came to light”.

Stephenson was asked on the BBC’s Today programme whether the watchdog had seen evidence that there had been significant improvement in the way staff were being treated.

She said she could not provide a “running commentary” on whether progress had been made because of the way the agreement works.
“We are still monitoring that programme with McDonald’s and we will continue to do that,” she said.
